Marijuana and YOU

Seeing as there have been a lot of misconceptions, I think this could be a thread to debate/argue and clear things up a bit. Let's keep it clean, shall we?

What do you think about marijuana? Do you think it's good? Bad? Why? Do you treat or think marijuana as a drug or a healing herb? I also want to know some of the "facts" or "myths" you may know about it.

Feel free to speak your mind, but be ready to back your words for it.

For us who do smoke, and do know how it treats us, toke on.

I don't smoke, for my own personal reasons. But I don't see nothing wrong with it. Overall it would decrease the amount of violence and deaths, right? (Drug wars, etc.) I personally see it as a cigarette but with a better effect. It is deadlier but unless your an addict, it's one of those things you do once a week or so right?

I think Marijuana is bad because it causes some disturbing problems within society.

The substance itself is not bad, it IS pretty safe to smoke it, nothing bad will happen if you do, but all the social problems (Bulliying, money needed, Gotta smoke to be cool) induced by it are bad.

If it was legalized, all those problems will dissapear (except for maybe the problems at school, as Im SHURE they would put an age limit) and I would smoke it.


That Above the Influence thing is targeted at schools, becauses Marijuana (being illegal) causes LOTS of Social problems in schools.

It helps me see myself, and talk about subjects I wouldn't usually talk about in public.
It makes me feel comfortable in all places, and it helps me see things for what they really are.
It calms me and keeps me collected, rather than disorganized and angry if I'm put in a situation which would make me feel that way.
It is the only drug I will ever use because of the simple fact that it is natural, and feels natural.

I agree.

I don't blame or hate people who do smoke it, I just ask they simply don't do it near me. My parents do it, but I prefer it then alcohol. My dad stopped using it and started drinking vodka instead. It was the worst month of my life. He has gone back to it now though and stopped drinking.

Hardcore drinking is worse than smoking a joint every day I think. From drinking you get aggresive and get serious liver problems..

And alcohol has the tendency to make the user think they can drive.
And besides, THC has been known to kill cancer cells before they can become dangerous.

There is no argument. It's simply bad. Whatever harms humanity should be considered illegal, unless of course it's used for the greater good. In your situation, if marijuana makes you feel good, brave, happy, peaceful or what have you, that's even worse. Why?

Because it takes away your self control. What will happen when you get into a nasty situation and there's no marijuana near you? Kill everybody who talks to you? Or perhaps if your gf leave you, you'll kill yourself?

Nobody knows when you're dependant on something like drugs. You first need to learn to live with yourself, and when you do, you use drugs as a last resort or in REALLLY extreme situations (Selling your property because you went bankrupt and buying a stash of m for a year, smoking yourself to stupor every night). Then again, I think it's only for desperate and cowardly people but eh.

Out of any of the drugs, herbs, or medications, Marijuana would be the one for me to get "addicted" to. Seeing the way people act high and knowing the side effects, it really shouldn't be illegal compared to, let's say, alcohol.

I don't do it, simply because I have no funds/connections/will to actually try it, but I would like to one day (in Amsterdam, so I can stay legal haha).

The ill effects of marijuana are blown out of proportion. All those anti-weed ads are pretty stupid.

But half of my friends who smoke weed got fat and lazy, so no, I don't think its good. I personally don't do it myself as it makes me paranoid and lock myself in a room.

i think everyone who is saying to legalize it aren't taking into consideration that theres a reason its illegal.

I'd be 100% for the legalization of MJ if there was a way that the courts would accept for prosecuting people who are under the influence and driving (like a breathilizer).

Recreational drugs have been huge parts of human societies, completely foregoing them seems like a shame. I'm for the "anything in moderation" standpoint.

If they can be used responsibly, for medicinal purposes or otherwise, I have no problems with them.
