Its ok, Iam playing mabinogi casually and having fun. I tend to play games for the pvp part and get carried away with builds. I actually want to play mabinogi without having to worry about if Iam going to be epic in pvp.

Windmill is one of the more important melee skills. You'll want it at a minimum of Rank 9 for the improved charge time, or Rank 5 for the increased range.

I should see how old my Mari character is...

Erm. Starting young gives you more age per birthday. You're weaker, but I think your magic is higher, and more dex? Not sure about that one.
Either way - for free rebirth start out old, and you won't be so brittle.

Don't force yourself to play a race you don't like. Thats why its recommended to play human because they're best of both worlds.
Obviously I shouldn't be talking though(magic giant).

But you should switch depending on your tastes. Me myself - I've tried countless times, but always fail as a archer, and quit it. No point playing if you don't enjoy it off the bat. Because it doesn't get funner, it gets easier(excluding the human skill AR, thats just fun.. ).
