No, really though. Most closed beta's nowadays are doing that. Probably for less of a push onto their servers. Then they usually have a stress test, inviting anyone to get on at a certain time to make sure it's stable. Then comes the open beta, then release. :x

I could be wrong though.

Well, my current theory is:

8 Hour uptime = The 8 hours in their work day

This tells me they want to avoid any disastrous bugs/exploits/server issues immediately by being able to pull the plug or patch it up asap, which, they can't do at home in their bed, dreaming of all the piles of money they'll be making.

This also makes collecting data and controlling things tons easier.

(After all, It's better than a rollback right?)

Most of the bug team is online with us during the 8 hour day, once servers go down they probably debug the days findings for 4 to 8 hours, sleep, rinse and repeat.

Because it's a beta test... literally learn guys... what do people have to tell it to you with hand puppets? The game isn't out right now for your amusement, it's for finding bugs, glitches, and problems, to repair for when it reaches OB. Why you can't play all day is because it's probably to make the game lay long so people don't quit it because it's "boring".

And besides, how the hell do you play for more then 8 hours anyways? are you some type of crazy android?
