So im on vacation to Dubai and i brought my laptop, and ive got internet on it, so i ran SpeedTest to check it and it says i got 2.18mb connection (Download) and when i download a file i get 256kb/sec is this correct :S? And yeah the connection is crappy since at home i get 4mb/sec ._.

You're 23kbps off your downloadspeed.

A connection IS NOT your downloadspeed.

Downloadspeed:
connection (in mb)*1024= connection (in kbps)/8
2.18mb*1024=2232.32/8=279kbps

Taken the fact it's hard to get actually what they give you (meaning, you'll always will be a few kbps lower), this speed is perfectly normal for your connection.

so i'm not getting what i pay for then? my connection is a 54mbps connection.

54*1024= 55296/8= 6912

Speedtest says i only got a download speed of 1.54mbps (which is by no means bad) but should i have something like 5 or 6mbps?
