Default Just built my first pc :) w/pics

Alright, while i've been inactive on onrpg over the past few days. I have pretty much been hyping for the packages to arrive from amazon, and checking the tracking number every other hour, for an update of status :P. I decided to purchase my parts from amazon rather than newegg just for no-tax and free amazon prime.

    The Build:
Cooler Master Centurion 5 Midtower (Hand-me-down)
    EVGA x58 SLI LE Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 d0 Stepping (Bought from Microcenter for $200)
    Xigmatek Dark Knight
    6GB DDR3 1600 OCZ Platinum
EVGA 9800GTX+ (Yeah i know its bottleneck, but also was hand-me-down, isn't that bad for only 1280x1024)
750w PC Power and Cooling Silencer Quad
    640GB Western Digital Caviar Black
Sony DVD Burner -oem (But expensive as f*** from microcenter)

I paid ~$700 (Including microcenter tax) for everything except the Video card, case, and power supply.

    Here are some pics:

I love my cable management job lol...

I was just wondering if anyone experienced might have some useful guide or the such on how to overclock i7 processors, since its pretty new to me. And i was just wondering how i should gain internet access upstairs, if i was to place the computer there. My family's router is downstairs in an office room, and i've heard bad things about Wireless PCI Cards and gaming. Any suggestions?

Pull a wire. Wireless can get so many issues you wouldn't have with wires.

No OCing links for you as I'm not in that stuff. =/

I also wonder how much electricity that beast will use.

Congratz! Too bad your 9800GTX+ is a bottleneck. I have a GTX 260 with a 1280x1024 monitor. But then again, I was going to upgrade to a widescreen monitor around Christmas...And I saw some i7 overclock guides, let me dig them up.

I never said it was bad. Dx

My friends always managed to get into trouble with wireless internet somehow. -.-"

Just finished reading up on that overclocking guide, Sakumo, for i7.
It was actually plenty helpful, not all i have to do is hope that i don't screw over my components, trying to find the sweet spot :3

EDIT: Easily hit 3.4 ghz by bumping up the settings a bit. Its prime 95 stable too (all cores <70 celcius while the cpu's tempis around 54). Ima try and push it a bit more.

Did you do a vcore bump? I heard that the i7s can run ~3.6 on stock vcore.

I've heard intelburntest is a more reliable source of knowing your cpu is running stable, you'll need to run 10 tests or something like that.

Yeah i made it to 3.8ghz (somehow, lol)
I couldn't quite make it to 4.0, but i blame my crappy case and semi-mediocre mounting job for the cpu cooler.

Eitherway, im happy for the results, and hope its stable enough.

    Ill look up intelburntest
