It looks just as bad as every other Final Fantasy game, including XI. Sorry I've never been a Final Fantasy fan, ever since Final l Fantasy 1 on the NES. I've tried a few of the newer one , even XI and didn't like any of them. XIV looks no different.

If they don't add the ability to jump in the game, then I'm not buying it. Pretty graphics and great scenery all account for nothing when your immersion is broken when you come across a hill a little too steep or a ledge a little too high to walk over. Then you are forced to walk all the way around it using some predetermined path.
I honestly have doubts about them being able to put it in the game. Especially if they are only just now considering adding it. Z-axis manipulation on a game engine not built with it in mind isn't exactly going to be easy.

Seriously though, solo play has always been boring as hell(Unless you're that Taru who soloed Rapido.). I'm not making any judgments on the game until I see a video with a full party fighting something somewhat menacing.

Chill out. Maybe it's still slow because they want to appeal to people who like partying.
Soloing isn't really dynamic and bores alot of people. But people who like party-play tend to have more fun and not wanting it to end too fast.
Obviously this is going to be a game where you have to sit down to take it all in, take your time and enjoy.
Don't be so closed-minded, it's already in alpha and theres people already trying to detract this game.
Too you all with "omgh isso slow it fail omfg1!!sux" It's FF. It's gonna lean on party-play more than half the time.
Videos aren't even that long anyway and they're nto doing much, people arent gonna do EVERYTHING in 5 minutes.

LOL you base game play on one thing. I played WOW and other MMO's with jumping while jumping was fun and could be helpful it was just another action to me. If a game is well made enough you don't need jumping to have fun. If you think you do then that's your problem.

I don't see how anyone can tell what a game is like by looking at 20 second to 1 minute videos.
Think it's boring? OH here let me show you a 2 minute video of me levelling my level one warrior on WoW... Point is, the videos are showing the basics only
The characters are still low level and it just shows melee fighting and basic quests so far. I like the look of FFXI more though :P I agree that it is like FFXI, but I never thought it wasn't gonna be like it just a little bit (or alot) o_o (from all the past details)

The attention-span of most people here won't allow for Final Fantasy XIV, let alone looking at actual facts like the showcase being an alpha-build, and the people playing the game not being able to find their own asses in a brightly-lit room. Do you really think trying to appeal to the community will work, Arath? Honestly.
