If you wanna invite friends over a PS3 is always more fun. also in terms of graphics/gameplay PS3 owns.
If you want to play alone, and since your on onRPG I think you do like MMORPGs, then I suggest building a computer.
Or get rich and buy both !

Go for a PC, a high end PC is always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the better choice. Don't go into Sony hype, Most of the PS3s exclusives have dying online and a lackluster story. Only thing I can really think about getting for it Little Big Planet and you can also go get that Blu-Ray movie, Metal Gear Cutscene 4. It's not worth it yet. Get a PC.
