    Default Ethiopian Food

This weekend I'm visiting my aunt and uncle. I've actually never been to their house before. They live in Maryland and work in D.C. I'm going there to visit some museums and stuff, should be pretty fun. They told me that on Saturday we would be dining in a Ethiopian restaurant. To make a long story short, I need some advice about how to eat Ethiopian food. I've never had it in my life, and it looks quite different to anything I've seen before. So yeah, if you know how to eat it, I would appreciate it if you could help me out.

;/ I love how I have the only constructive post in this thread. Besides MotBL's of course, but everyone knows that baklava is delicious.

I should have expected responses like these. All I did was ask a single question and I get a bunch of answers that have nothing to contribute to the topic.

There's an "Ethiopian Cuisine" restuarant in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I ate there out of curiosity. There are a lot of vegetables and spices, primarily ginger. Use a fork.

Since your eating with your family in the United States I doubt you should be too worried about traditional Ethiopian dining etiquette. Oh, and for dessert try the Baklava.

Sure, I can give you some tips. You most likely won't be eating with a utensil. If a lady brings a pot of water to you then wash your hands in it. The food is very diverse but the flavors will be very strong. They have a lot of exotic drinks there so be sure to try those out. That's it really, if you don't have a strong constitution then bring lots of Tums.
