4 part Star Wars: The Old Republic Video Walkthrough from GC 2009

BioWare and LucasArts has given IGN a 4 part look into the gameplay of the upcoming MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), Star Wars: The Old Republic. You'll see the playable characters classes of the Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett), Smuggler (Han Solo), and Sith Warrior (Darth Vader) in the videos.

You also see what the first ever cover system for a MMO looks like for the Smuggler class. The first ever fully voiced conversation system with player choice of moral and ethical dialog in an MMO. Then finally you'll find out what a Flashpoint experience is in the game.

Well worth the 20 mins that it will take you to watch all 4 parts. I'll telling this is the next big thing in interactive entertainment. As a Star Wars, LucasArts, BioWare fan, I can tell you that I'm very excited about this online game.

According to the video that was a a Human controlled Sith Warrior and a Human controlled Bounty Hunter.

I'm glad to finally see some game play footage, very impressive. Very much looking forward to seeing more of this game.

The only thing from the video is the game looks pretty easy.. but maybe they were over leveled for the things they were doing. Even that enemy jedi looked pretty easy even though it was 2 vs 1. I know they want to make you feel heroic or whatever but I also want a challenge lol

i also hope it was easy just for the demonstration. champions online is doing the making you feel heroic thing and it's backfiring horribly. easiest game i have ever played. extremely boring. luckily, this game will have an amazing storyline to mask some other stuff.

Really? You've played an MMO before, right?

Besides Age of Conan, what popular MMO has bloor and gore when you kill someone? Almost all MMO's out there like this take on the matter in the exact same way; weapons go through people and into people without blood and gore.

Omg, ppl stop fail so much, ok? ^ ^ It is my opinion about this game and I say that for a 2009/2010 mmo it really sucks, do I need to explain it more clearly? Stop being fanboys and accept that someone will not like it. Ok, I will try to rephrase, In my opinion, Star Wars MMO in that video looked boring, not appealing, graphically sucky, though I liked the story/quests part.

P.s. Age of Conan, 2moons, Requem... gore/blood mmos, so if i like these types of mmos I never played other mmorpgs? grow up ppl, really, even, ugh, Arri? Mods jump into wrong assumptions so easily nowadays? dang...well, seems like old good onrpg...

There has never been blood in any Starwars games if I remember correctly. In Jedi Academy you cut off some limbs but that's it.
Anyway, don't play TOR if you want blood.

Hmm, I assume there will be chance to hit penalty when you dual wield like in KOTOR.

If you go into that situation/instance/whatever without another player playing with you (in that case the bounty hunter) then it will JUST be your character. (though, there are AI companions in this game, they won't be class specific. they'll be unique, like the heroes in GW)



Way to completely fail at knowing a game at all. It's not supposed to have blood and gore. Think back, did KOTOR have gore? No.

Think. Think before you speak.

Star Wars in general is a gore free kinda thing.

I actually like both games. I've liked most Bioware games and Lucasarts as well. I guess its because I'm just a big sci-fi fan.

When I played it I was glad there were elements of Kotor but most of it was nothing new. Not to mention that the side quests in ME drove me insane. Those planets were boring as hell to explore!

I'm sure it was a blast for most though, and especially those not familiar with the kotor series!

It's looking really good. just give me a force-based healer, and I'm 100% sold.

Hell yea! I can already picture a Twi'lek force healer!
