    If you picked yours up for three grand, it's likely that the problem lies within the skins as opposed to your kit itself. Try and replace your skins to see how it sounds before deciding to go all out and buy a new one.

    If you have recently replaced your drumheads, then I would recommend a small TAMA or Pearl set.

    Honestly electric drums do suck ***, they're not as much fun to play and you don't always get the sound you want.

    Just go to a few good music stores and ask the store owners opinions on what drums they think sound the best for the cheapest price (I say a few good music stores because some of them don't know jack shit about drums)

    Eh, $800 isn't that great. You could try and find a Mapex M Birch kit with some okay symbals for that... maybe.
