Song's language/lyrics

Hey found a cool piano piece i've been learning and am gonna try to learn the lyrics that go with it as well. The song is Yann Tiersen's "Rue des Cascades", and i've tried searching for the lyrics but all i can come up with is the english version. Anyone know what language this is in, and if so could you please post the lyrics in here?I'm thinking it's German or some incredibly obscured and accented english which I have a hard time understanding.

It's english, the songwriter is french. I suppose the accent makes it a big hard to understand because the words are a bit slurred but the words are definitely in English.
