    Default finally gunna p2p

want to p2p for a game, done with f2p...
i know some: WoW, Lotr, War, AoC

not really versed in the ways of p2p games or have paid much attention to them
i like pve and crafting, but i want to start pvp'ing (occasionally, lol)

leaning towards WoW, but keeping Lotr in-mind
lotr kinda concerns me because you dont hear much about it or its content

and if anyone want to join me, im down to start new server, chars etc
(have a few 70's on WoW)

I would stay away from AoC. It was very dull IMO.

WoW or Aion are good options.

You also might get some FFXI recommendations but don't start now, you just really can't start as a newbie at this point.

LOTR is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't P2P for it. You might want to if you like Lord of the Rings, though.

I haven't played WAR but I've heard pretty good things about it.
Both Aion and WAR seem to be very PvP-oriented.

A lot of people also love EVE Online, but it isn't my taste.

I'm personally going for Aion but based on your list you might prefer Western-style MMORPGs with goblins and hobbits and such.

why go mainstream. Since Aion is coming out pretty soon, might as well try that. Because honestly, there's a 80% chance if you start with legit wow, you're capability for making a personal opinion will eventually be overtaken by wow fanboyism genes ...

Lotro and such are also nice of course (having played Lotro myself for a relatively long while)

If you plan to play EVE make sure you are prepared for a second job, at least, a second job after the full month of studying the manual (it's a must if you want to understand).

AoC is fun at first if you have a above average gaming rig, and the novelty wears off fast and it feels like a sinking ship and would be a poor investment to pay for it considering how much failure funcom is.

Lotr isn't really worth p2p it has no pvp and its nothing but pve, and the pve isn't even that good.

WAR has amazing PVP and below average end game, its instances don't really hold a candle to WoW and it lacks all the tiers of gear WoW does. Though its RvR is great, mythic is terrible at balancing and refuses to nerf the op classes.

Don't give into the Aion hype, a week after the game is released the forum is going to be flooded with how people are disappointed as they fell into its hype.

Your safest bet is WoW. It has good end game and decent PVP. The grind isn't that bad, and its not a financially sinking ship like most current MMORPGs are.

The beauty of P2P games is they all have free trials. If your unsure try them both?

    It's PvPvE.

Alot of instances and more being added, but the main "selling" point lies in PvP.

It's more PvE then WAR in any case.

The first time you enter an instance in WAR, you already feel like farming it.... there's no fun to it.

    I'm suggesting EQ2, I loved it.

Erm, the main endgame activities in Aion right now are PvP as far as I know.
There's also ganking while you quest and level up - the overall feel throughout the game is just very competetive.

OP if you don't want to PvP that much you should just go with WoW.
People like it for a reason, the game has a lot of content and good customer support. It's also easy to run. So... yeah.
I would play it but I find the overall look and character design awful.

(NOTE: Online gameplay may change for some people).

I played LOTR, and it's great. More people PLAY it, then come on the forums and whine about something else and the community so far felt 'mature', although you might encounter the usualy **** or two on the way as well troll, but which game hasn't?

WAR is fun, but that is me since I like the Warhammer universe, so I'm biased. It's more of a game where I enjoyed the 'quick' sessions rather the full fledged grind-oh-long-runs experience.

AOC and WOW...they almost feel like opposite coined games (for some reason) but they're both good.
Although once again, I'm biased to hating WoW since it's has become the 'casual' gamers MMO and everyone is praising as if Jesus himself kissed the game or something, and of course, AOC get it's 'titties' and adult theme spammed aroun alot.

So really, at this point, just trial the damn games before you buy them. Hell, I even trial SP games if I get the chance, last thing I need is to waste cash on something I don't enjoy (and last I recall, 2 weeks is plenty of time for most P2P MMO's).

eve-online awsome crafting and pve though it would be pretty hard to pull them both ff easily, it can be done but would require a much longer time with skill training.

i warn though the learning curve is horrid...you will most likely **** you first char all up and not even get $5 out of the deal..

Sorry I had to lol about this...by amazing pvp you mean random *****s coming in and mauling you over doing 5x the damage you do? I can agree with the PvE but it really doesn't start till 20, before then the game is boring :/ but it is a good game...I'm assuming your talking about EQ2 btw.

@ op : If you want really good crafting/gathering systems...play ryzom (I really hate suggesting this game because of my experience with it, but the game itself is ok) and make sure you don't name yourself something silly, gm's will ban you from the game.

If you want PvP and PvE (and PvPvE) try Aion out when it comes out on september 22nd. EQ2 would be the 2nd one I would recommend but PvP in that sucks until you get to 80 and get tons of money to ***** your character so it would just be for PvE.

If you like lord of the rings a lot, do LOTRO.

Ganking was so dumb..I'm more talking about *I get on vent*

Us 10-20 go atack another guild's 10-20. I rarely do 1v1 PVP or ganking, it's pointless.

The game also isn't boring pre-twenty there are alot of introduction quests and stuff like that.

Altho it gets much better after 20 or so.

Depending where you start is also a thing, I hated starting in Quenos, but I loved starting in Kelethin.

WoW, because it has the most play value.
    AoC stay away.
Warhammer, good game, but servers are dead.
LotR, looks alright, never played it myself.
Aion most likely won't be as good as everyone seems to make it, I know plenty of people who are already bored of the game, in the beta.. I can gaurentee you from what Ive played of it so far, its no where close to a WoW killer, AoC was supposed to be, so was Warhammer.. Look at those 2 games now? Practically both dead.
You can buy Aion if you want, but really.. Too be honest, it brings nothing new to the table that another MMO hasn't already done, just another Korean MMO.

I haven't seen one game that isn't gear dependent.
Oh wait Guild Wars didn't depend on gears too much, but then Guild Wars wasn't really MMORPG.

Talking about Guild Wars, I can't believe no one mentioned Guild Wars 2. It's coming out.....soon....no idea when it's coming out but it looks good so I'll just mention it up here.

AS for fanboism, I don't see anything wrong with that really. What's wrong with a person loving the game so much? He obviously likes the game for his own reasons, and he would of course want to recommend it to other people. OP is asking for a P2P game he could enjoy, so it's perfectly reasonable to recommend a game he or she likes.

Of course, this thread will soon turn into "my game is better lolz your game sux" thread, but I thought I would just put it up here before it starts.

DO not i repeat DO NOT play wow..
The game is filled with fanboys and annoying smart *** kids..

Spenind Months to get the newest tier then 3 weeks later a new Tier comes out... Or new Pvp gear comes out the only reason wow has a a big community is cuz they keep adding small new exspansions and new levels.. and crappy new gear...

The graphics are a couple steps below the newest 1's I mean comon your chest armor is pretty much your new skin and the only real actually decent looking part of your armor is the OVER sized SHoulder lmfao...

Also instances are always little hall ways u follow to goto a next boss its so ez...

I myself havn't found any good new rpgs.. So yea. WoW can go kill itself go play a free priv server

Getting the gear is the fun part of the game. Raiding and having fun with your guild/friends trying to build on your character. When they constantly add more gear, it makes it so there is no way to get and keep "the best gear"

The graphics are bad due to its release date.
The armor is meant to look over sized and over-exaggerated.
Instances are quite boring until the later levels, then when you cap 80, comes in the raiding.

    Lrn2play.
Make a character passed level 30 then try to persuade somebody NOT to be this game.

EDIT: TheBeast, if you're having trouble deciding on which realm to play on, I would recommend mine; Lightnings Blade :]
I'll gladly make a new character with you. (When my internet decides to stop being a *****)

there is a trial for wow, lotro, eve, and aoc. u can try em out.

I recently tried the trial for LOTRO and AoC both are pretty nice games not sure if i want to sub in either. Played wow for around 2 years and loved it. did not like war one bit and didnt really give eve a chance..

try them out urself dont listen to people who say that a game sucks or is awesome and make ur opinion on that because everyone got different tastes. but if u dont want to bother with trials my recommendation is wow.

my first character was also a tauren druid..

I then returned to play to 70 I goto 70 got a couple tier peices and gave up felt like a rinse and repeat kinda crap. Then 80 cap LT patch came out I see they added siege weapons.. BOOO no really siege weapons I am now 80 with a inactive account on sale on Ebay.

The game is just a rinse and repeat thats it nothing more nothing less..

The crafting system is crap aswell. Everything has a 100% chance of being made or embued with a gem or being enchanted..

The game is a epic failure it was great BEFORE Burning crusade now its just crap.
Uhh ok all I see you doing here is whining about the fact that they add new content.

What the hell would you do after you had obtained everything you needed if they didn't add new gear/levels, sit there with your thumb up your *** ?

And no one I have ever talked to has actually liked failing at crafting something, it's like oh boy I just spent time doing something and I got absolutely nothing out of it, yay.
