Default Out of Curiosity: Who's searching for their MMORPG and Who's found it?

So I'm sitting here on a nice weekend day with nothing to do but to look for a game to play. Since I'm commuting to college I don't have to move in to a dorm like most of my friends do. SO yeah, it's boring as hell, and often I find myself using up my time browsing this forum.

Then I thought to myself: How many people are having trouble looking for the right game to play and stick to? Or How many have already found a game they've fallen in love with?

I'm pretty damn sure there's another topic like this, but idc I'm making a new one. I just want to see how many people are having trouble finding a game to play.

I found it in Fallout Online. I just moved into my dorm and I don't have much motivation or time to play anymore though.

    Here are my suggestions:

Get a job to pay for commuting, and college fees, and for the mash ups

Watch some tv (comedy central i reccomend)

    Find a GF

Find out more about your college, like the immediate area, if there are any good clubs or pubs about, find info about freshers week maybe

Find a hobby, cooking is mine, baking air biscuits :P (wink wink)

And if all else fails, then whack it like a monkey in a mango tree (thm anyone)

If you have a girlfriend, MMOs are hard to stay attracted to. I find myself on Fallout Online just hoping my girl will be home asap.

The problem with ppl is that they are to dam picky and expectations are high. I doubt I will ever be able to find the right mmo for me. But I will be able to find a decent on with features that I like that will keep me interested for awhile.

Have I found it? No. Will I find it? No. It is pointless. Go out. It is just a matter of time when you realize that time spent on MMORPGs was wasted. You may not think so now but you will later. I play an MMO a bit when I am bored as hell but that is for just a few minutes.

You really think it is that easy to find a job and a GF especially in this recession.

@camel01: This is irony my friend, because of the nature of the forum and the item you posted. Lighten up mate...

@TC: No, I still haven't found it, but the reason is everytime I think I found a good game, it starts to blow big-time.

For example, my first ever game was Kal Online, it was OK till I got to level 30 and spent almost a week grinding in it to ge to level 32, then I realized it, unless I spend a crap-load of time on a game to the point of insanity, I'm not getting anywhere.

I tried Silkroad Online and I liked it, but after the Summer Holidays, suddenly, I couldn't log onto the severs anymore...too many people, and spending 1-2 hours to login is no fun.

Further down the line, and a few games after, Bloodymare came next. I loved it...till lvl 40, and after that I quit. After researching about the game, the lack of content was what turned me off. Top lvl is 70 meaning I had only 30 level left to go and the content was starting to run dry...logical...

As I said, everytime I'm about to have fun, somehow down the line, the game fails me bad, lack of content, endgame, too much grind, the reason's are countless!

Even Neo-Steam turned me off and Atlantica Online, both games were fine, but both lacked the 'feeling' of accomplishment of sorts of ANYTHING, even doing the quests for those games felt...mute at best...

Next few days I plan on trying SUN and see about it. Hopefully, it's will a decent game and will be somewhat fun.

Hehe, agree. You have more chances finding a perfect mmo than perfect GF.

My game is FFXI. I want to play it but I dunno if I can make enough room on my laptop for it....

And also, I think DFO is gonna be my other game.

Well, I've been satisfied by various MMORPGs temporarily.

I try all the newest MMORPGs but the only MMORPG that's truly satisfied me is FFXI.
The problem with that is... I've accomplished pretty much everything in that game. Lots of jobs at level 75, beaten every storyline, etc.

I love it but I just feel like I've beaten the game, and its age is also starting to show. I can't motivate myself to play anymore.

Aion looks promising but it really depends on how much the endgame content satisfies me.

My current plan is to play Aion until FFXIV, assuming I like FFXIV... from there, I don't know.

I will never find something perfect but I'll play anything that will keep me entertained for a while. It's not time wasted, just time spent another way.

Edit: @REUK Beautiful post. All I can say. +rep

Anyone who states they've grown out of the use of games seems to have 2k + posts here. THey also claim playing MMO's are useless and you should quit yet seem to stick up for their game quite often.

    Just a good observation ;-).

None the less if you have spare time with nothing good to do MMO's are a good solution, it's not unhealthy. If you don't have something to do all day well play a game all day. It's not good for your health if done often however when school comes around you're going to be forced out anyways ;-0.

I don't play an MMO as of now, but I play guitar and piano to fit my needs in between school. Whatever you want to do with your time is yours. If you're gonna regret it later, then it's your fault for wasting it. I like to play mmos every once in a while, but not all day. As for the instruments, i like music, and hope to find a career in music.

Meh I feel Aion is the type of game I've been looking for for a long time. I like PvP centered games and I liked warhammer online but they did a lot of things wrong and screwed up (if only just a small bit) because I also like the PvE but that's almost non-existent in warhammer sadly...but aion mixes PvP with PvE and that makes it sooooo intense, I almost cream my pants everytime I see battleground dreadgion videos or fortress battles in the abyss.

Yah anyways...I've had that before and back when I didn't know how to do deal with "ADHD" as they call it these days, I played GunZ for years upon years, I eventually stopped a small time after they moved to ijji for several reasons lol one being the cash shop and the idiots who moved into the game etc. not that the game didn't have them before...

Then a year or two later I got into AoC (just this year actually in jan/feb/april) got to 80 loved the game but the lack of pvp really bothered me so I quit and I had like 3 or 4 piece of t2 and the t1 weapon...so yah...gear grinding isn't really my thing though it can be fun if only the game made the bosses not glitch and gave them more dynamic abilities. as well as made raids smaller for some of them.

Hell I enjoyed xibaluku more than any raid I ever went on.

I guess I found a "perfect" MMORPG in Anarchy Online, but I've pretty much stopped playing the game since like a year ago, partly because I got bored of the mid-level grind for F2P players and partly because the new laptop I bought had a piece of shit graphics card.

Other than that, I have found another MMO that I've stayed with for longer than a week. S4 League. Still playing it atm.

Tried playing SUN Online, I got to lvl 22 and i'm bored.

You play the game, easily level up 8 levels in 1 hour. Then you reach an instance that you must complete... It takes 3 hours to find a group and some mag always ruins it for me by disconnecting etc.... There are 3 instances up till level 18 I believe and they are all so bland.

@camel01: Haha, sorry mate, but internet isn't exactly the place for ME to pick-up on sarcasm, unless it's very well done and blatantly clear.

    @autophobe: How is S4?

@slick911: Different strokes for different folks? I few of my E-Buddies loved it...

I see posts about getting a job and finding a gf rather than playing games. Jobs, which I have, shouldn't even be mentioned since you should be trying to make money anyway, it's the only way to live in this world. Then when it comes to having a girlfriend or boyfriend, there are people out there who simply aren't looking for a relationship. Some of the couples I see today really disgust me anyway. Happy couples who have been married for years are sweet.

But yeah, if it came to spending 10 hours everyday playing an MMO then it's a waste of time. Yet for those of us who have a job, workout, etc. we'll eventually find out that we'll have a few hours leftover each day with nothing to do with it. Now we all know we can't be going out to the city with friends everyday because it costs money that not everyone has. So in the end we WILL have free time to ourselves, and if we're posting in this forum then we all chose to spend this free time by playing games. If I were to play my piano or guitar rather than play games then I would never have this problem, but instead I want to find an mmorpg to interact with other people and have fun.
