Adding stats is a whole balance issue that companies find extremely difficult to do with skills.

Different stats and skills together is HARD to balance.

Look at dragonica, even with just skills they have people crying over builds builds builds when it's freaking obvious and you get free resets each job change, they still don't know what they are doing. If you add stats into this game it will be a mess.

Look at wow, with skills you still get noobs that choose incorrect ones and pay gold to keep changing skills. If you add stats their brains will explode.

Look at ragnarok, skills + stat points. Think about the number of reset npcs you get in private servers, and how SCREWED people were when they played on 1x rates of public servers. There were screwed up classes everywhere, and this didn't change much until reset npcs were added.

Therefore, with stat points and skill points, the balancing issue is so extreme that developers would rather spend time adding content (or lack thereof... *cough* dragonica *cough*) rather than spend time balancing out classes and answering noobs questions of

"halp!! which build is best??!!? Which class is best for pve?? Help!!!"

    Why you ask??

    Pretty obvious why.

I dont like adding stats; mostly there are only 2-3 correct ways to put them and you get stupid equipment requirements and if you **** it up youre or ****ed, or you have to buy cash shop items to reset them, and it doesnt really make you that unique, like every mage will have much int and warrior much str etc..

Even when you can customize your own stats, like Clone said everyone will still be the same with very minor, almost innoticable differences.

Then you''ll get the other guys who want to stand out and have really shit stats because they put in the wrong stats because they think its cool.

Customizable weapons might be fun but then your going to be using that weapon for the rest of your mmo life unless theres a guy who changes the weapon for you.

Custom skills might be a bit too irky. Making your own animation in the skill would be the biggest pain in the *** ever and 90% of players would just go with the best damage and debuffs while the devs spend two years trying to balance them only to hear *****ing and moaning from the players about lack of content.

I'm sure the companies realize that but bringing all that in will bring so many problems that the time it would take to make a game like that and polish it to make it bugless, glitchless and balanced would take far too much trouble.

Anyone else besides me think of City of Heroes when I read this topic though? It has some of the things this guy wants. Customizable character, different weapons, different powers and the ability to create your own missions? Just doesn't have stats but besides that it seems like the type that Max would like.

This would be me, without the thinking its cool part. Being unique is what i am all about. So be it if i mess up and am weaker than the "best build". I might not have better stats or skills than the "best build" but i may have a strategy that can beat them.

OH MY GOD HE SAID STRATEGY AND NOT JUST ZERG THE OTHER PERSON!

Its no fun to do what other people think is fun. Sure, it may be fun for you. But i don't like people telling me what i HAVE to do to participate. Old EQ raids for the win, 70 people meant you did what you wanted unless you were a Cleric or a Tank. And you chose that position by making that class.

Of course you still needed strategy. Its just that people got to play what they wanted because there was someone else who wanted to be what they didn't.

I agree. I used to play Star Wars Galaxies from 2004 to 2008. I remember the skill based days of the pre-combat upgrade era. Every time they change one of the 32 professions. Someone would figure out a good template and then everyone would use that template. It was a very redundant cycle. So they took the 32 professions and made 9 simple ones. To take the guess work out of it. Hope I didn't open any old wounds for anyone about SWG, lol.

Plus the OP is a blithering idiot. Or as Carlos Mencia would put it, Dee Dee Dee. In honor of the OP, here's the Dee Dee Dee song. LOL!! Enjoy. http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/...?videoId=72779
