Reputation: 23More of a Star Wars fan, but I've always like Star Trek too. So I'll be keeping my eye on this. Plus thanks for the heads up. I had not been back to the website, since the webcast with Lenard Nimoy.

Reputation: 27A lot of stuff at NASA was inspired by Star Trek; for example the naming of a space shuttle Enterprise.
Reputation: 23Lol. The space shuttle and the straship were both named after the USS Enterprise, a name for a US Navy nuclear powered aircraft carrier since World War 2 to the present.
Remember in Star Trek 4, where Chekov finds da nuclear wessel (Vessel, lol.) and he says how he found the Enterprise. That was the aircraft carrier, he was talking about. The real and first Enterprise.

The Space Shuttle was named Enterprise because of Star Trek, not because of any prior usage of the name.
ST Online was in development hell for a little while but it came back out. I hope the game does okay. Star Trek has been dying for a long time. The recent Star Trek movie brought it back to life a little but I dunno if the movie revitalized the franchise or was just another popular popcorn flick that rakes in money and gets forgotten.

If any series/movie had a influence on tech the most, it would be the James Bond series.
The "medicine scanner"? Please show me this one. So far, they do not have anything close to this tech, or as compact as this tech.
They did have an influence on tech, but not as much as other movies/series had.
OT: I will look this over, but I dont see me playing this as a sub.

Reputation: 167Very true. I have so far seen 3 different types of possible flying cars.
What I like is the flying boat that has been out for a bit now. Its not really a boat that flies, but the design and speed allows it to pull itself out of the water where its floating above the water surface about 3'.
Nice little toy.

eat poop and die, naysayers!
The creators of the cellular phone, personal computer, Magnetic Imaging Resonance (MRI) scanner, and even top NASA engineers and scientists all acknowledge the role Star Trek played in the birth of their technological advances.
