Well if you got the money, go with the LED Samsung. Really nice TV, but it's pricey.

I dont know about cheap, but LG is good.

We have a 52" plasma. Havent had a problem with it for over a year. She has been looking to upgrade to a 70"+ screen. What sucks? My son is getting the 52".

power consumption and brightness are the main difference's
Go with LCD imo, LED is pretty expensive right now.
which ever one you do end up going with, make sure its "FULL HD" 1080p OR at minimum 1080i
you'll only really tell a difference if you game alot on ps3 or xbox360, 1080i runs at a lower frame rate, not by that much tho.
both still look fairly the same with movies n tv, anything lower then 1080i is a no no.

and good brands in no particular order
    LG
    Samsung
    Sony

    Eh, he deserves it.

    But to the OP:
I have had no real problems with LG, Samsung, and Sony. Do some research and see which one of the generic name brands are a subbranch of a known name brand. It's a good way to get a sub-premium product with a decent price and fair warranty.

If you are going HDTV, make sure you get 1080 p and not 720.

If you are gonna bother to get HD, get FULL HD.
