DDO Worked for you?

I'm honestly just curious to how many people here in the forums were able to actually play the game f2p while the servers were up?

I myself was not able to run the game. After logging in and selecting my server, I would launch the game and it would crash only a few seconds later. Apparently that has been happening to others as well from what I have read on the DDO forums. People keep getting crashes... Sadly I found out the game does not support vista, which I am running. But still I have had no problems with other games. It sure as hell is not my graphics card, which is a HD Radeon 4670. Possibly my resolution which is at 1440x900 was the issue... However I changed my res and even tried maintain aspect ratio but both failed. I even tried to run the game in XP compatibility mode. All failed...

So how many of you were able to actually launch the game and or play it this morning?

I run it on Vista without any problems. Ever since I got this new PC I been playing DDO on this machine. Had it almost a year now and never had a problem with DDO running. Even through the F2P tests.

this game supports vista i've been playing it for a while now.

also if yo uget like green streaks on screen before crash just hit enter that should return it to normal.

Well then any ideas to why me and a few others keep crashing a few seconds after launch? Note I'm able to play loads of different games. I was even able to run a trail of Age of Conan on high with only a bit of graphical lag. I know DDO is no where near AoC... So far this is the only game to ever do this to me. I'd understand if the game crashed when it was actually loading, but this damn thing was crashing a few seconds into the INTRO movie, not the actual game.

The game can run on vista but from what I read there is no official support for vista yet. This is written somewhere by a staff member in tech support.

Also I think I saw a green streak but was not really paying attention... I will try to hit enter when the servers get back up.

I can run it with vista with no problem.
Try to update your video card driver and such.

Which client did you DL?

High-res copy or the normal copy?

Is the lag any better, I was playing in the head start and it wasnt too bad in the beginner part but once I got to Stormreach it was lag city, I could barely even move throughout the place.

well, i would play if i could get a username. my beta account didn't work, and still doesn't and i can't get a new name because the websites down.

i'm getting tired of waiting ._.

Thanks for the offer but I will be playing in Cannith since the majority of OnRPG is starting there. Since it is a new server that means I have a higher chance of partying with other low lvld players anyways. But yah, playing with dx10 and ultra gfx just fine... I can run this game on max setting but cannot watch a simple intro movie? *facedesk*

Well things like that happen. I remember a common movie issue on Unreal Tourney 3. Sound was absent, or the game would crash trying to simply play it. Strange how lil movies can break games.

I was playing just fine with all the settings maxed out. I was getting like 30 to 40 FPS though, but that's good enough for me. I just stopped playing, because I've never cared much for Dungeons & Dragons. I especially didn't like the Dungeon Master Voice, didn't need to be told what I already could see.

It was... for like 5 mins, Now it's got a database error.

Different sites... And sadly you can not create an account from the site you listed. They are only allowing you to create free accounts from a link in ddo.com. Oh well, you guys just have to wait a bit longer. Take this time to finish the huge 4+gb download.

Some other people were having the same issue with not being able to submit. Just try to refresh and try again... Apparently that works.

Also, screw IE... FF forever <3.

I noticed, and that's why edited it out.

Though I was on about the ddo.com main page as being up, it was (and probably still is) having up-down moments.

The forum is now back online. Tho it seems the site has gone up and down a few times a few minutes ago, it still might go down again...

I made one right when they started to allow free accounts just fine. The problem is probably that the server is lagging hard, which might also be why the site/forum keeps going down.
