    I'm trying to save up some money and get a better PC, but i'm also going to the Air Force soon (before February) and dont really NEED to do this. I'm also just assuming once I get stationed i'll have the capability to have a computer of my own in my living quarters. So that being said help me make some new computer decisions;

    I could buy a computer that fits the gaming description (without a monitor)

    So to summarize and clear up anything.. Money isn't really a huge deal, especially once im in the Military, i'll be gettin paid and have nothing to spend it on. The specs I want are pretty much as listed, 3.0GHz or higher processor, 4-6GB RAM, 500GB+ Harddrive, a nice looking case with alot of cooling, nice power source, and a nice video card.. I'm not going to be playing Crysis, but it wouldnt hurt if I could. I do however like the new games coming out, especially MMO / FPS / RPG ones. I've never built my own computer before so I dont know how much of a struggle it is. Should I just get the comp with all the parts or build my own?

    How about this idea..What can you reuse, what don't you need to be included into the price, planned resolution, expected games to play with it, and any brand preferences. Also, your maximum price would be nice too, but not necessary.

    For that $850 price range that you're in, I would go with the Intel i5.

    My current computer sucks, the only things I could really do is see if the RAM is compatable and see if I can add my old 75GB harddrive to the 500GB+ one for no particular reason.. Other than that.. crappy processor, not a leet video card, if anything i can sell my computer for like 100-250 dollars or give it to a family member. -- possibly without the monitor, depends...

    Is Intel so much better than AMD processors? I dont know a whole lot about computability, so correct me if im wrong, but alot of video cards won't be compatible because its not Intel? (or am I thinking of motherboards -- and I dont even know what motherboards do really..)

    And a price range, well RIGHT now I have around $630 USD. Like I said, i'll be joining the Military before February, and you get paid atleast 1200 a month. So, honestly I just don't want to spend 1000+ on a computer then spend about the same for a nice monitor and whatever else I might want..

    I'm drawn towards flashy stuff like neon lights inside the computer, liquid cooling systems, stuff you dont need but makes your computer awesome.

    So i'd say 1500 MAX and thats pushing it!! -- because I would still need a monitor amongst other things..

    So all show and no go? or all go and no show? It's one or the other. Also, liquid cooling isn't for looks, it's for performance..And I'm the one helping him build HIS computer..So yeah. I'll post a build after you answer my last question I guess..
