Hmm. Very interesting contest. I'll try to come up with something soon. Would online play be workable or should we try to at least try to think about making the game work offline?

Online play makes things trickier; I'd say not for this contest. Maybe for the next one (if this one is successful ), we can do something online. But for this one, I'd say stick to single-player. Well, you can make it multi-player, I guess, but, not over a network (i.e. hot eat games, or like different sides of the keyboard). After all, this is just the first contest, we don't wanna make things too complicated too quickly.

That what I'm wondering as I do have an idea but it's mainly singleplayer (with up to 5 man multiplayer) but I would much rather help create a ORPG that we can use as a shout box, to RP and kill monsters together.
Because although we quit MMOs all the time if we had one that we could just hop into that meet up thats been made by us, would be damn awesome.

Just a suggestions guys: it would be helpful if you made somewhat of a format for submissions. You know, to keep things organized for you. Something like:

    TITLE: ----
    AUTHOR: -----
    GAME TYPE: Text-based, 2D
GENRE: RPG, Puzzle, Adventure, Action, etc.
SUMMARY: A brief description of the game.
CHARACTERISTICS AND MECHANICS: As a list or in paragraphs (I believe lists are better, but that's just me). What characteristics make up the game, how does one "win" or "lose", etc.

    ^ Just an example.

You're probably right. I'll throw that into the post.

Lol, naw, sorry. Not everyone would be able to play it. Otherwise, I'd say yes. And don't skip out on programming languages! Game Maker's not the only way

I have experience with Java for making a text based game...but programming graphics is kinda tough.

I'll join in, I guess. I'll try for something cool...but it'll have to be short.

    Question!
Does it have to be online or single player, or could it be either?
Cuz I can go either way with my idea!

Edit: Oh, dang, you already answered this, and the answer is single player.
    *nod nod*
Okay, I'll pm ya my idea!

Ah, crud, I sent it in too soon...(wasn't two pages long)
I'm just so excited about this, I press sent without realizing it wasn't long enough!
    *sigh*
Well, if you want, person in charge of event, you can ignore the one I put in, and I can redo it.

Lol, it's two pages MAX. Like, absolute max. A paragraph is totally long enough, if you feel that it's expressed your idea fully. If you wanna resubmit, I'm totally cool with that.
