Yeh this is the best program for stuff like this BUT.....

    Dont.

Trust me theres not enough buttons on a controller for all your skills your just gonna make it hard on yourself once you hit 18+

Try it and if you like it then stick with the controller. If not then you can always go back to the keyboard.

controller just make the game play more easy to move around and fight. plus only can use 6 attack at a time so you have to switch you skill around anyway

You can play this easily with a controller. I have a standard Playstation style USB controller that is automatically detected by the game. You can change the buttons in game.

The way the game is set up you could actually play only using the 4 face buttons. Attack, Jump, Special Attack 1 (default Z button), Special attack 2 (Default Space Button). Every skills has an alternate way to be used. Either set the skill to a hotkey. Or do the button command for it. For example the Gunners spin kick is done by pressing Down, Down + Special 1. Some skills like the jump boost are done with Special 2.

I have my buttons set like that with the top 4 bumpers used for hotkeys for the more complex attacks. I use the select and start buttons for healing items. It works very well vs monsters and in pvp. You can even use an arcade stick if that's your thing.

Joy 2 key works good if your controller isn't already detected.

I'm using a Xbox 360 controller and I think its way easier, I'm getting better grades, more combos and such. I love it, The back 2 keys will not work for some reason though, wish I could figure it out.

For those buttons you will have to use joy2key or something because they are analog. In joy2key I think they are axis 3.

No, I wasn't I'll download it and set it up, um question, can you set it up to where you still use the mouse to control the mouse, and just use the game pad as the keys?

I don't even know which thing stands for which button this damn controller lol.. I'm confused

So would you be able to play DFO with an Xbox 360 controller?

If yes, how do I sync it with my laptop?

24 (well 20, since 4 are used for moving) slots is more than enough, that covers all shortcut slots and then some.

To sync it with the computer, download the Xbox 360 controller driver from Microsoft.com, install it, plug in the controller, and it should sync. I would use Joy2Key, I find it easier now that people showed me, I still couldn't figure out how to use the 2 back triggers though, I used back and start instead.

Did you just say charger? The charger doesn't work for the 360 controller to connect to the PC. It doesn't relay data, only charges the controller. You need a wired controller for it to work, or the microsoft xbox 360 PC controllers.

You can. But you need to buy one of these:

    Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Reciever

Drivers for it are on an included CD. I use it not only for DFO, but games like, GRID, GTAIV, and Devil May Cry 4.

Some games, though, do not recognize the 3rd axis(aka Left and Right Triggers).
