Default What do you guys really think about DFO?

I've been playing it for a few days now and it hasn't grown on me. Granted I actually like this type of game (reminds me of Final Fight + From the Abyss) and it is a decent game, but to me it was hyped up a bit too much.

I remember looking in on some of the Dragonica and Wonder King threads and people acted as if those would be just time killers until DFO came out and now I'm wondering, were they serious? Honestly, this game has not made me want to quit any of the MMO's I was playing before it came out.

Granted I'm only LV7 but I'm really struggling to keep myself interested. I don't think it's a bad game, I just don't like it.

    What do you guys think?

takes a while for it to click on you; usually lvl 10-15+ because you can't really combo with any skills and you can't pvp until lv 10. You get your cancels at lv 15 which make pvp much better.

Also, it may be the class you're using. I played a Ghost Knight and absolutely hated it because it was so...boring. And then I switched over to Fighter and was hooked instantly. Epicly long suplex combos > flashy sword skills. Although I can't pvp at all with a fighter.. D:

My mage has been boring. I might switch to a fighter or gunner.

Been playing Priest for a few days. Seems like a very fun casual game. Not the epic "best f2p ever" that people have been claiming it as.

    Don't play it for yourself.

Play it for all the Europeans who will never experience DFO, ever.

I'm experiencing it right now with almost 3 lv 18's.
I don't understand why Nexon IP blocked us, lol.
    I don't even lag with a proxy on. -__-
Also, I love it. Best F2P as far as I'm concerned.

I love it. Too bad I'm stuck playing the JP version while those that can actually enjoy the English version complain about it over and over again. :/

I'm playing it every day since the release of the pre-OB. that has to say something since i most likely quit every f2p mmo in a matter of a few hours.

I guess I'll keep playing for a bit longer. Might like it a bit more once I get more skills and whatnot.

Oh yeah, one of the things that's been bugging me, is there a place you can buy MP pots or make em?

Pretty much, there's no reason for them to not release it to the EU, no other companies are planning to do it, and Nexon owns the game entirely.

The only logical reason is xenophobia!

I enjoyed games like double dragon, final fight, captain commando, ninja gaiden. But it was more than 20 years ago. And DFO is nothing more than a beat'em all in a MMO environment. And after playing games like C9 or Mabinogi Heroes, i can't feel satisfied with action games like DFO. In addition i hate to see clones everywhere. I really can't understand why they have chosen to make a game with such a poor character customization. So, imo, DFO could have been a great game... 10-15 years ago. And such a game ll never make me quit others action games like C9.

they all play so differently and some are much more fun immediately than others (lolmage anyone?).
Yeah I saw those potions that Grubeck sells (Don't really care for the idea that you PvP for pots) but I didn't see the option for making pots with the girl in the tavern. I just get quests from her that give me some and she sells throwing items.

I have 4 characters btw. The haven't improved my opinion on the game though.

    Or, you know, distance.
Which is absurd, since Candy says she doesn't lag while using proxies. I mean, no lag with proxies = no lag at all WITHOUT them.

Ofcourse it haven't if you haven't even gotten past Mirkwood. Lol.
Anywho, the quests are what gives you healing items.
Later on, you will also get quests(from her) that reward you with healing items just for killing mobs in Sky tower.

    He.
And I don't, to most people.
It depends on how good or bad their connection is.
E.g Sukiriso and I have absolutely no problems partying.

The distance thing is complete rubbish really.

I can get a better connect to some US servers than quite a few people in the US.

QFT i saw americans getting the lag box thing in parties while i was fine. With proxies as well and using my Dorms connection which is not even extremely fast.

Its annoying when i see EU/NA servers broken apart it just messes with population.

I think it was overhyped. But because of that reason I had to try it, even though it didn't look great. Played it for a bit, thought it was better then most games with the action arcade style gameplay and controls, but it was just a turn off in general, I did not like or enjoy the game.

It's alright! I kind of lost interest after my hopes of making a battle crusader were dashed - apparently there's a missing patch that makes them viable.
I don't really like the quest approach to acquiring healing items. It tends to waste fatigue.

That said, it's still a fun game.
After they fix it up all nice like I'd actually consider spending money on it.

I love this game; being a console gamer myself I don't like too many PC games. I've played for over two years now on the other versions kDnF, Arad and now DFO and will probably never quit this game unlike the 100+ other orpgs/mmorpgs I've played where I spent like 1-6 months leveling then got bored and quit (talk about waste of time).

The only thing that bugs me is this stupid Captcha system; can come up during battle, even on boss and if you mess it up by accident you get DC!! >

Just over-hyped and continues to be. People will kill for a non-generic game, even if it isn't good.
