i dont know whats wrong with your xbox but i had the same problem with my ps2. i tried to fix it but it didnt really work so i just traded it in and got a new one

yeah i just cleaned my ps2 up and had my dad look at it to fix it up a little bit so it would work for a little while in case they tested it then i took it to gamestop and traded it in and a few games that i didnt play.

so i go to this game stop of some sort and trade in my xbox for a new one

No way in f*cking hell any place would take a broken PS2 or gamecube if you fixed it up.
And IF they took it they would try to buy it for like $20.
My suggestion, go to a local futureshop or Geeks'R'us and get it fixed for like $30. Saves you cash, and an Xbox.

actually they would take it. if you clean it up to look like brand new and you know somebody that can make it so it will work for a little while (like my dad) so as far as they know its like brand new.

It couldve just died. If you traded it in, you'd get 15$. Dd you ever fill in the xbox warranty papers? I remember some came with mine, forgot how long its covered for.
