I am actually quite amazed at this as I would never expect it to happen. I guess that means make sure if you marry a Japanese she has forfeited her Japanese citizenship when she marries you (either for your citizenship or already has it).

That's really ****ed up, I say give the man his kids back.
Japan knows that the woman is at fault, and not the man.
Yet they think the japanese are better than the americans,
so they put him behind bars.

But I also agree, because he DID go to Japan, snatch the children, and run away.
He'll get his kids back eventually though, after more shit with the goverments.

Yes Japan's government is prejudice of ever race but their own.

It's really hard to become a citizen in Japan when you are not full blooded Japanese.

That is one of the things I hate about Japan. Although a lot of the people I met while traveling there are pretty nice. If you make an attempt to speak their language and respect their culture.

From the article and the video, Japan really needs to review how it will treat these sort of cases.

How it is now, just doesn't work.

Just as the article said:
"concerns about Japan ... providing a place for people to abduct children and go to. The parent left behind does not have recourse."

...Japan knows that the woman is at fault, and not the man.

That could be a small factor, I guess.
Though, the video mentions Japan views it as the mother has custody over the kids, I guess you can't really rule that out.
