I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

then again i do work with this technology everyday which is probably why![]()
It's a very advanced version of messaging, I suppose you could say. It effectively replaces everything from e-mail and messaging to file sharing, photo apps, bulletin boards etc in one easy app.
Looks very exciting. It will make for much more fluid and natural communication considering today's technology.
AFAIK, Google themselves will be doing all the inviting. It's still in developer preview at the moment. The whole thing is open source with APIs and its own open source protocol, so there should be a whole lot of modding going on.
Reputation: 195i'm tempted to get in so i can fool around with their api
my only concern is, will it be a true in your browser experience or are they going to approach it as a web application or are they going to do it with the help of google gears.
also msn have already done something like this..its less advanced but they have integrated msn messenger into hotmail etc
So, that video..kind of didn't really make me want to bother with this...
Like, I dont know I am out of words to describe this; pointless is a good one..
I mean "3.5%" isn't big, why explain "3.5%" when you can explain "20%" or "90%" of what it does. Its an advanced message system? I dont know why but I don't think this is special.
Reputation: 1151I only send one email at a time to people, so meh.
There's a 1h20 video that explains it all in a lot more detail. Basically, the other 95% involves loads of technical stuff that most people wouldn't find interesting.
I think it's strange that people aren't quite excited by it. This really is a cohesive advance in the communications that we use everyday. Yeah, so all the individual parts are already there, but this is gonna be big guys. It's tha future.
It's all HTML. They show it running in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

by the looks and sound of it, its PHP/AJAX
both of which are insanely powerful with endless possibilities and doesn't suffer the annoying things like browser compatibility or skewing on different screen resolutions that html has.
nor does it suffer the huge load on a persons pc like java.
or the caching issues that flash does.
I'm going to follow it just to see where they go with it...

Kinda cynical, that the only reason why this is worth news is that people are to stupid to find routines to use services effectively, if you do not arrange them in one closed box, with a limit of 20 items, because everything else is too confusing...
Basically it is letting you bring a document into a conversation. Then you invite people into it. Then you see their responses in real time and all(instant messaging). Then they can edit it if they want. You can have multiple people in the conversation. If you bring in someone new they can rewind the "tape" and watch the entire conversation happen again. Pretty cool really. Mostly meant for business, but it will still be fun to mess with.
