you could try Freedom Force or its sequel.
they're single player RPGs, and you can make your own heroes.
personally, though, I found both somewhat boring.

Do you mean like a real super hero with powers and stuff? Don't think there are any single-player rpgs like that, it would be a nice idea though. If you're looking for RPGS with a choice of being a hero or a good guy or something, try Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.

I think CoH and Champions Online are the only MMORPG's of that kind out there.
