Game with unique combat vs. arcade style beatemup vs. sidescrolling maplestory clone vs. generic korean grinder?

I don't think it's possible to compare them.

Dungeon & Fighter (Dungeon Fighter Online) is unique. There is no other MMO like it, except Battle of Destiny, which is only similar because it copied Dungeon & Fighter. =P

Out of that list, I'd recommend Mabinogi, DFO, and LaTale. They all cater to different audiences.

There's A LOT to do in Mabinogi (heck, you can even compose music in this game) and it's probably one of the more unique point-and-click MMOs, since it doesn't focus on combat as much as most MMOs do.

DFO is wonderful if you like old-school beat-em-ups, or action games in general. There are tons of classes to choose from (Slayer, Mage, Gunner, Fighter, Priest, plus Female Gunner and Thief in the future) and every class has four subclasses (except Priest and Thief, which have three and two, respectively). Each subclass plays very differently, so it's easy to find one that suits your playstyle. Suppose you like Fighters. You can change into a Nen Master to shoot energy blasts, create exploding clones, launch a huge dragon made of light, surround yourself with a defensive bubble, and more. You could also advance into a Grappler to toss enemies around (you get grabs that can be activated in the air and grabs that hit enemies on the ground, so you can essentially grab any monster as long as you're close enough =P). There's still Striker and Brawler, plus the subclasses of the other classes, but I just wanted to show how different each subclass is.
Note: There is a fatigue system to discourage excessive gameplay. You get 156 fatigue per day, and it goes down by 1 for every room in a dungeon that you enter. Once you run out of fatigue, you can't go into dungeons, but you can PvP or use another character. Just know that if you want to play this game all day, you'll have to switch characters and/or PvP a whole lot.

LaTale is a side-scroller with nice animations and great gameplay. You can choose from five classes (Wizard, Warrior, Knight, Explorer, and Engineer) and every class (except Engineer) has two advancements. Leveling is somewhat slow (but you can hit 80 in under three weeks playing casually once you're used to the game), so you probably won't go far if you don't like the combat. Notable tricks are JAS (Jump -> Attack -> Skill), ladder skip (hold left/right, jump, then immediately tap up), and ladder cancel (hold left/right, jump, immediately hit up -> jump -> attack -> skill). These allow you to use skills in the air, quickly ascend ladders, and cancel into skills from a ladder, respectively. If you use these, you can really mix up your fighting style, possibly making the game more enjoyable for you (they did for me~).

I know I mentioned some reaaaally specific things in my descriptions, but I figured that you could easily look up basic info on the games, so I might as well provide some info that you wouldn't normally stumble upon.

What you said about that 1 game can be bounced back to all the others.

What you fail to understand is that 'this' game has all of those features in it.

The individual parts of DFO may not be unique, but the game as a whole is.

Suppose you have a person with bright red hair, the top from a gi, slacks, and swimming shoes. Would you say this person isn't unique because clowns have bright red hair, karate students wear gis, business men wear slacks, and swimmers wear swimming shoes? No, you'd say this person is unique (and probably insane) for wearing these things together.

Dungeon Fighter Online has a great dungeon system (which is unique to itself and BoD, as far as MMOs go) with tons of classes and quests. In no other MMO will you find yourself dodging hits and going for back attacks and combos to get a high rank, then going back with a different character and doing the same thing with a completely different skill set (believe me... some times, it doesn't even feel like you're in the same dungeon once you switch characters =P). PvP is highly skill-based and it adds A LOT to the game's life span, since there are so many classes (and skill builds for each class).

A game can also be unique in terms of quality. Arad Senki (Japanese version of DFO) is one of the most polished MMO I have ever played. There is a huge selection of (balanced) subclasses to choose from, each with a different playstyle. The game's pacing is spot on. You don't level too fast or too slow, and quests come in at a nice rate. There's also a constant stream of events and updates. Basically, the whole experience is very streamlined. This isn't the case in most MMOs, where you are often forced to grind for hours to get a level or worry about permanently ruining your character (this difficult to do in Arad Senki unless you TRY to do it).

I've played many, many free MMOs and fighting/sidescrolling/beat-em-up games just so happen to be my favorite genre. DFO is definitely unlike every other game I've played. It has many similarities to games I've played (especially, since it falls under my favorite game genre), but the experience as a whole is very different.

what Froob is simply stating is that DFO has does feature and its cuz of those Features that you should try the game compared to the other 3 Listed.

fiesta owns all of these O.o
DFO just like... is to me, horrible.
LA tale was awesomely fun until you find out you have to run a million maps to get to the next place.
Mabi, just really lost it's taste for my type of gaming. Seemed that it took an awfully long time to beat some bosses and shiz.

Just so you know, it's possible to teleport in LaTale. =P
(Warp Capsules, Town Portals, and Stone of Iris Fragments, not to mention Warp Crystals [Cash Shop])

I say mabi and DFO win this fight. I dunno which to choose between those 2 though... Both are good games, but I prefer Mabi Personally :o

    LaTale is Maplestory. Enough said.

As for DFO, I haven't gotten to the point where I hate playing it yet. Take that for whatever it's worth.

First of all, it's "definitely"; there is no 'a' in definitely. Secondly, I have in fact played Mabinogi before. Also, not only have I played Mabinogi before, I have played all of the aforementioned games before. Guess what? I stand by what I said. They are terrible games. Period.

Don't think for a moment that I could care any less if you or anyone else actually happens to enjoy those ***** sandwiches called games, either. It's your time being wasted, not mine.

My guess is that you couldn't handle the fighting system.

The fact stays that Mabinogi is one of the only special mmos out there and that you treated it like a grinder (which it ain't really). In any case it has an amazing and unique fighting system and fun lifeskills. (well... I must admit refining is driving me crazy right now but still)

(also dude, we don't all carry a dictionary when we type on a forum)

lol at this guy(Lobotomy)..if you dont like these mmorpgs what did you play than? heavy asia grind games? more fun yeah? mabi is from the whole concept one of the best free mmorpgs and you can do nothing against this fact. If you dont like it because you dont like the style or something else its your opinion. But you cant say the game is trash. Gameplay is still perfect and unique.

even if you dont like the graphics you should know that - if you have a litte bit experience in mmorpgs
