Can you make your avatar have motion?

I was just wondering how to have a moving avatar? I think I have seen people with it but I cant remember. Oh and when I say moving this is just like a little gif... nothing serious.

Well, if you want it to walk or something and it isnt from a video and is a picture...You have to do it frame by frame...Takes quite a long *** time...Believe me, i make Flash videos. Takes a day to get 1 small scene done if you want it to look good.
