I saw the video earlier this morning, and the comments just crack me up. It's either mac users *****ing about windows or vice versa. I don't care which you prefer, you have to admit it is a really smart advertisement.

It's probably the only argument they could revert to, considering Windows 7 has gotten pretty good reviews.

Yep, Windows 7 is great, thousand times better than Vista.

    But on macvspc,
I agree on Mac beeing more stable, and suited for work/graphics, and yes you can install windows on a mac, but mac's are totally overpriced (imho)
and Windows is just way better for gaming/videos etc.

Macs are for people who know very little about computers.

If you are one of the people who do know a lot about computers then a PC is easily better in all areas.

It was a crappy laptop for video editing. It worked perfectly for gaming and Photoshop and what not. I've used a lot of PC's the edit on, even ones at the universities I've done college visits to and they still did not compare to the editing power I've seen on Macs. Macs are just better for editing.

This. No specs to compare= statement invalid.

I've had problems with Windows 7 already. Nothing huge, but just annoying once-in-a-while errors.

Sometimes, it just refuses to shut down. Other times, it won't recognize the track pad on my PC. Sometimes, it hangs on bootup.

My Mac, however, I have had for going on 4 years (4 years this Christmas) and not only does it NEVER HANG UP, I have never, ever, ever done a restore on it. I do my Windows machine every 6 months, because something is always ****ing up by then.
Err every OS is going to have some minor annoyances.

To say that your mac has never once had any problems at all is stupid, and probably a flat out lie.

Macs are nothing more than a status symbol, and the fact that people buy into these ads scares me a little.

If macs were cheaper. Easy to customize and build. Could play video games and had as much support as a pc then I might consider buying one.

That is too slow for my likes. Also you left out the part where I said easy to customize and build. Also having more software support and be able to play video games.

For 600 USD I could build a much better pc.

I agree - the brand new price is outrageous.
I also agree, the prices are outrageous. I got mine used for $800, would have been $1,500 originally. Outrageous. But I've had no problems with the hardware.

Another good thing about Apple is the costumer service. When I had my Dell, they were horrible about costumer service. And after 90 days, they wanted me to pay $120 for the problems I had with the hardware. (A one time fee too.)

Apple has a 1 year warranty. You have any problems, they fix it. After your year is up, you can buy 3 more years of AppleCare. Which will cover ever Apple product you have. And gets you parts, labor and tech support.

Which is why I said PCs are for people who actually know a lot about computers.

If you know jack shit about computers get a Mac. If you want to save money and get something better start learning about computers and builld a PC.

My newest pc was built in 2007 and it can still play just about every game on max settings and use any video editing program efficiently.

Seems like I was right when I thought you didn't know much about computers.
When I bought a brand new PC, I could run games fine for years too. My argument is about VIDEO EDITING. Not gaming. I know PC's are better for gaming. But I don't care, I'm not a gamer. I'm a video editor. As Avid released new software updates, my PC's hardware became obsolete. I had to replace the graphics card 3 times over the course of a few years because each one became obsolete.

I know a lot about computers when it comes to the stuff I want to do with it. Video editing. Not gaming. If you're going to criticize my argument, keep it one the basis of MY argument and not a random argument about games.

It was a problem with my HARDWARE. That's not something you have to know about to call and try to get it replaced for free. I could have gone out and bought new hardware. That's not hard. But they wanted me to pay $120 just to talk to them to try and get them to replace it for free.

Tell me the specs of the computer you had when you first started to use video editing then tell me what parts you upgraded. Give the specs of each part and when you bought it.

Like I have said my 2007 built pc has no problem with any of the video editing software and needs no upgrading.

Also you seem to forget that their is a special card for video editing it is from the NVIDIA Quadro FX family. The Nvidia Geforce cards can be used for video editing but are better for gaming and that goes both ways for Mac or PC.

I'm sorry, but I don't have all the information of the cards I bought over the course of those few years. Not exactly something I would remember.

I knew about the Quadro series, but they didn't have stereo connections until recently, but I already got rid of my PC buy then. I had to go with other models for the audio needs.

Also, what software do you use for video editing on your PC?

Also, what software do you use for video editing on your PC?
    I have used

Adobe Premiere Pro (currently using CS4)

Roxio Easy Media Creator ( version 10 for now)

    Screenblast Movie Studio 2.0

    Adobe Premiere Elements

    Sony Vegas 4.0

    muvee autoProducer

    Visual Communicator 1.0

    VideoFactory

    MediaStudio Pro 6.0

And many more ones I can not name from the top of my head or find the cds or files for.

Also what are you doing with your video editing? What is it used for? What improvements in software developing caused you to get a new video card?

If it's not important then you don't need the latest and greatest. Even people who make their own fan made films don't need all the newest programs and gadgets out.

I would use something as simple as windows movie maker for things not so important.

    Spewing bullshit?

They couldn't be more dead on good sir.

I've had problems with Windows 7 already. Nothing huge, but just annoying once-in-a-while errors.

Sometimes, it just refuses to shut down. Other times, it won't recognize the track pad on my PC. Sometimes, it hangs on bootup.

and that could be another bullshit spewing too

I've been using Windows 7 beta RELEASE CANDIDATE (not even the recent full version) since it's release back in march if I remember correctly

not a single error, at all, see the difference?, I've seen people having tons of errors and mishaps on mac, just as much as I see on windows

you know a secret?, it all depends on the freaking user and what kind of set-up they have

I know a lot about computers when it comes to the stuff I want to do with it. Video editing. Not gaming. If you're going to criticize my argument, keep it one the basis of MY argument and not a random argument about games.
then again, not trying to pick a fight with you or anything here, isn't the video editing part mostly based on software knowledge, which, of course you have shown you have, rather than Hardware knowledge?

if anything, buying a dell it's just bad all around when you could always build one yourself you know, I mean having the pc knowledge you've obviously shown that shouldn't come off as a hard task at all

another thing, you mentioned you used a 9400M GPU as a graphics editing card, having the knowledge you have, I'm sure you must know that kind of GPU it's simply no-go for graphics editing, at all

if anything imho, Mac "over" pc arguement it's only because of it's software and said coding language being more lenient if done right, while anything mac has in the hardware deparment, a PC could just crush it with no effort whatsoever

I HAD to get the new graphics cards because each time Avid sent a new update, I could not preview the video without it lagging then stopping. It told me that i needed a better graphics card each time. I tried doing everything I could to get around buying a new card. I messed with the rendering settings, lowered compression rates, closed other running programs, lowered my preferences and nothing worked.

I've just never had these problems with FCP or Premiere on my Mac. I edit films ranging from 20 minutes to 120 minutes for both in-school classes and out-of-school, independent classes.

My bet is that you had a bad video card and kept buying low end video cards.

If you actually got a good video card you wouldn't need to upgrade for many years.

Like it's been said a 9400m is very weak and not meant for extreme video editing or gaming.

With windows and a PC it's really complicated.

    With Mac it's all easy.

You are simply stuck with the Bullshit you would otherwise spend a lot of energy on avoiding.

I HAD to get the new graphics cards because each time Avid sent a new update
    Don't upgrade than.
    Dummy.

I've just never had these problems with FCP or Premiere on my Mac.
You are making your own problems.
Mac saves you from that by being useless.

    Only mind one thing:
Once you run into a real problem, you are screwed.
