The homebrew channel is basically a non official Nintendo channel.
It allows you to modify your Wii in a way that allows it to run special applications.

As Oister mentioned it can make your Wii play DvD's.
However its also used for installing backup launchers that allow you to play burnt games, as well as playing Wiiware games.

Its like asking how many of you smoke weed?
Its just a question...that leads to discussion.

I seems HIGHLY uncommon for people to add a homebrew channel in and not use it for that sole purpose.
Originally you want free games, then eventually you add a DvD Player, etc.

I know a number of people using the HBC and not a single one of them use it to do anything illegal.

I have the Wii homebrew channel installed, but I rarely ever play my Wii.
