Default Hey To The 100+ People Viewing

Write something already for christ's sake. Do you seriously just lurk and type nothing? Honestly what a piss poor reason to join a forum board if you're not going to add your two cents. I'm serious. I'd love to hear whatever you have to say. Sure I'd make fun of you most of the time but at least you posted something to add to the conversation and you can get involved yourself. Honestly. Involvement people. We don't need the almighty Spaghetti Monster to bestow his wonderful wisdom down upon us but I'm pretty sure you can do better than another damn Lockerz advert.

also it's a busy time for alot of people with midterms and stuff at school.

(oh and also, the sad truth is it's just kind of hard to hold alot of intelligent discussion on a gaming forum, you know?)

That hardly counts as a valid example. It's like comparing a special education student to a normal student in a high school. There should be a bottom line for coherency and understanding to anything. I'm not arguing for copious amounts of crap. I'm arguing for copious amounts of coherent and pseduo well-thought out crap from people who can use the English language on an English speaking forum. I don't think that's too much to ask for, honestly.

Are we honestly at a point where someone posting sensible paragraphs with a sense of logic should be something that deserves the Nobel Prize? I swear to God it wasn't like this in other gaming forums I visited in the past. And perusing through past threads it seems like it wasn't an odd requirement out of OnRPG either. I'm speculating what went wrong because I feel like something went wrong. I believe people just lost interest and communities as a whole lowered our standards to what we can expect from various users.

Maybe it's due to the influx of a younger gaming community and the shipment out of the older regulars. Maybe someday all of us have to leave Neverland and the ones who are staying are just stubborn, obstinate, self-entitled bastards like myself who try to keep cross-evaluations to a minimum as they hardly help create progress anywhere and anytime.

@Cillu: Opinion much appreciated. Thank you for coming out of your lurk for me. I love you

Some of us just like to watch and after being here for awhile prefer not to post just to avoid getting into flame wars with morons and people who think they have superior intellect or stature.

    OnRPG is flame central.
    And elitist central.
Then again, every forum is full of elitist assholes.

Sadly my whole life is this outside and inside the internet. If it's not kids arguing Windows 7 or Mac OSx then it's going to be professors flaming the whole class about how the class average was a 42 and how it's our fault for being absolutely ******ed. Because dear God if a professor couldn't accurately convey the concept of genomic sequencing via primer shot-gun method the Earth would go out of orbit and crash into the sun. I completely understand where you're coming from though. But I honestly have a limit to how much something nags at me and I just have to employ sarcastic wit. And then when I start, I just have troubles stopping.

By the way we have a therapy group which might help you out. We meet every Thursday.

Elitism is a fickle subject. The bars between elitism and complacency are relative and people often twist the usage of such words to suit their own agenda in my personal opinion. The same has gone with the misuse of several internet terms like troll and flaming. Much of it has been adapted for political purposes losing much of the original purpose and being used as a standard-slap in the face to someone you don't like without bothering to get to know them.

And seeing no highly populated threads I created my own for my own amusement and pleasure at the expensive of you guys. Honestly thanks. This experience was a blast and I will never ever do it again moderators. If I do I will gladly accept time-out.

I totally agree with all of this. It really bothers me that some people are too stupid or uneducated to know what things like elitism, socialism and communism really are. And it bothers me that people manipulate it all to fit their agenda.

People believe that just because the USSR and West Germany were communist and had some questionable fews and did some questionable things, communism is evil. Same with socialism.

Now, I'm anti-elitist, but it bothers me when people try to make claims about elitism that are totally false. The fact of the matter is, an elitist system wouldn't work because there is no power to the people and the people will revolt when an non-favored decision is made for them.

I'm pro-socialism in most cases. Especially because I believe Americans cannot be trusted with too much power. And because our greedy, capitalistic ways do nothing but further political corruption.

Wow, I'm getting off topic. Maybe we should start a political thread.

Most of those lurkers are actually adbots, waiting for the perfect thread to sell you nike shoes and then BAM!

    ...

    ...

They never find such a thread so they post in the most random ones instead, only to be ignored.

Oh my the poop has flew..But yea most people either have school and take a quick view of the fourm, like I do. In fact,I've been doing hw all niht and just finished so I am going rest now.

But lurkers most likely wish for their opinion to be kept to themselves and wish not to be flamed down like most people's opinions in this fourm

I"M A LURKERZ. no really, i just don't post unless i have something to say. or the topics are boring.

When i first came here i would only frequent the mmo forums because well, it IS called onrpg. Then i started to branch out into general and it all went downhill from there.

So, don't hate them. they're probably just here to check out reviews or look at new posts to see what different games are like. it IS a gaming forum, not a social forum, afterall.

    tl;dr cool story bro

There are a number of threads I track for information purposes only. The main reason why I don't always contribute is because posting comments such as "Man that guy is stupid." isn't stimulating any conversation, just making the topic longer and filled with useless spam. The way I see it: "If I don't got nothing to say then there's no reason for me to be speaking." You wouldn't believe how many times I wish people wouldn't post at all if they have nothing important to say or relevant to the topic so I don't have to search though a 40-50 pages that might have only been 10. It's not so much entertaining as it is annoying.

But that's me; Not everyone comes here for the same reasons.
I agree with this. I used to look at onrpg solely to find new mmos to play and just lurked the forums to hear real players' opinions on the games as opposed to some review written by one person. But then again, I'm trying to start posting more, so I kind've agree with both sides of the argument here :P
