Our system is way too lenient and merciful to actually do anything for the greater good, that is why people like these will never get killed. On the other hand, we have the fact that such a system would be abused to no end. Which also sucks.
So it is up to the individuals to put it into their own hands. I wish somebody would throw a brick and break their heads with it, so they can go to court. I'd cheer at the brick thrower.

Or just that I've been living in this world for 20 years and have seen this going on 24/7 on the news and around the world. Instead of just "feeling pissed off", it'd be more constructive to use that extra energy in fighting this kind of thing from ever happening, but sadly this isn't the case.

There are systems in this world for a reason, you know. The justice system isn't perfect, but you can't go around saying we should get rid of it.
It's precisely because of the system that the guy you piss off in a store, or on the road, can't get out and shoot you. That's what'd happen if vigilantism took over. Be thankful that's not the case.

Of course you can't get rid of it, but some systems need to be severely overhauled. Especially in terms of sentencing, and that is my current problem with the justice system in America.

I agree 100%. Life imprisonment should mean life, that's the biggest problem.
Also, there's a big issue with knife crime in London. They should just say "Look, if you're caught with a knife in the street, immediate five year prison sentence.". People will soon stop carrying them.
Things like that bother me, but otherwise, people do complain too much.

I'm not talking about vigilantism, I'm talking about society dealing back what harm was done to it. Retributivism in other words. You get shot in the shoulder, they get shot in the shoulder, it's simple as that. You end somebody's life, they end yours. It's as fair as it gets.

First of all you can never know the full consequences of an action. Ever seen the movie called "The Butterfly Effect"? Secondly, while the physical damage might be similar, the psychological damage can be vastly different. For instance, hitting a professional boxer in the face is not like hitting a computer nerd in the face.
Furthermore, how "fair" it is depends on what kind of "fairness" idea you have adapted. For instance, some argue you should be rewarded for assassinating dictators while other argue that you should be punished in accordance with the law.
In conclusion, it is impossible to create a justice system that everyone would see as fair.

No offense meant dude, but you're very wrong there. Society isn't affected by a girl getting *****. My life doesn't change because someone gets ***** or murdered, so I'm not going to go around "correcting" a society that, while flawed, is working out for me.
Society is different to each of us, which is why no one man can go around correcting it, and why we have some laws that don't work.

Like I said, even with a 5 year old sentence, who will be catching people with knives? The courts? No, the police and as I have stated, the police are a shambles.
