Education if done right is key to keeping a stable and healthy society.
People seem to be concentrating on punishment rather than educating. Kind of like how we are so against kids having consensual sex that we try to forbid it in every way. There will be kids who still go and have sex and yet no one is educating them about sex or the natural consequences of it. They are all so bent on denying it.
If I was a parent and I didn't want my child to cross the street without me I would just tell him not to but I would also explain to him why.
People seem to think educating children about things they should not do is going to make them commit those crimes but I think it works better as a deterrent rather than just telling them no without an explanation.
Sure some kids will go and do stupid things no matter what you tell them and that is when you have to just let them learn on their own.
It's not just the parents who have to teach the children but the community around them too.
