    Default No guts, No glory!

I started playing MMO’s since the rise of Ragnarok Online and can 100% say that I’ve played a lot of games already. In every game I’ve played there would always be 1 NPC that will make your gaming experience in that game miserable. He or She would give you sleepless nights, days that you would just like to hit your keyboard on your face and sometimes makes you think that you should just quit the game. That NPC is sometimes called Upgrader, Refiner, Enchanter and Enhancer.

Have you ever experienced that you have the best items in the game and then you have to upgrade it from +9 to +10 and then suddenly a big “Upgrading +9 item FAILED” would appear? I’ve experienced that a lot of times already. I felt miserable when those days come, days when I am out of luck and I always curse those NPC’s even though none of my curse would affect them.

Well all I can say is that this saying is right, “sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t.” It really ONLY depends on how you accept it.

Who are the famous blacksmith NPC’s that you know? Have you ever crossed paths with NPC Hollegrehn of Ragnarok Online? How about NPC’s Vulcanus of Atlantica Online? or even hold the item refiner of RF Online? Damn, I remember those days and it still keeps hunting me.

Well no more looking back. No guts, No glory! Clank Clank! FAILED!!! /wtf

Hehe, I both loved and hated the upgrader npc(s) in Ragnarok Online (and other games).

Hated because, just like you, when you fail an upgrade and break a rare item, it makes you want to ragequit.
I also thought it was a cheap way from the developers to make the game time consuming, without having to provide more content.

Loved because having the best items in the game was really hard, challenging, time consuming, almost impossible, even. It could take years to have excellent but not perfect gear. Nowadays' MMOs mostly are easymode in comparison.
