Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce a game that would be THE game of the year. In fact, I am so confident in it, that I would say that it would be THE game of the century.

Why did we decide to just call it Online™ , as opposed to a name followed by the word "online"? We felt, that our game was so encompassing, so big, that no name would do it justice.

I'm glad some people out there understand this. WoW is a generic game. Blizzard is just rich because they didn't start out with mmos and made very good use with advertisement money. The only companies that SHOULD be able to out do them are any Final Fantasy MMOs (from the single player star wars games), Starwars MMOs (george lucas probably fails to see any possible potential or probably doesn't even fund the projects and just gets paid for ideas/copyright), and DC Universe (I'm assuming they've got a lot of cash to fund the mmo). But no one wants to put money into the advertisement. It seems like FF13 has a good chance since they are trying to go for a casual(*cough* dumbed down*cough) game.

Even if a western game out did WoW's success, ignorant fools will just say they copied WoW's gameplay or something like that and WoW still comes out on top, so I maybe no one can kill it. If blizzard killed it, there'd be rage, so even they can't kill it. The fanboys keep it it alive....no....fanboys keep it immortal ***dramatic opera music plays***

I will continue my hopes on old republic for a number of reasons. First. Its bioware. Their track record speaks for itself. Second. It has innovation and bioware wouldnt do the project unless george lucas himself oversaw its progress. Third. Its star wars. There will be no lack of population. Fourth. Its in a time period unknown in the star wars universe. Thus bioware can make it original and let us continue to enjoy the epic star wars story we all know and love.

True. Even next-gen MMOs can't kill it. Too many bad, soaring fanboys in my opinion. It's them who go WoW clone on games who aren't even point and click which make me loathe WoW so much. I mean, you could put Hello Kitty and they'd still say WoW clone.

who cares about WoW anymore anyways, soon the serpent will bite and devour its own tail, ending its life.

and from within comes a new beast. Soon WoW will be outdated, and their New IP Will dominate the series. WoW was fun for the first 3 years i played it tbh, now its just meh...much better stuff out.

until blizzard comes along and release WOW 2
then the WoW cycle lives on.

Nothing can kill a classic. As much as some people hate it, people cling to what they know. If you happened to not like it, well then you happened to not like it. Nothing else to say.

That's why there will never be a "Mario Killer, Metroid Killer, etc." They're classics. You can't kill them. You can only imitate structure and add different features.

That being said, some of the "classic" MMOs out there I'd say would have to be WoW, Maple Story, and Ragnarok.
