Default COD6:MW2 - Online Multiplayer Review

    Intro
Alright, so I've bought this game two days ago for the PS3. For those two days I only played the online multiplayer, which is the most important part of the game for me. Not to say that the single player missions or the co-op are bad or anything, it's just that I like the online competitiveness allot more. I've spent a total of 250~270 hours online at Modern Warfare 1, so I'll compare allot of the new things to the previous things in Modern Warfare 1 and discuss the things that affected me the most. This is just a fraction of what this game has to offer.

    Matchmaking
What surprised me the most was that they added the matchmaking system to the PS3. Now I'm not having issues with it or anything, it runs perfectly normal with a tiny bit of lag now and then. But compared to other people who are having really bad cases of lag, I'd say this is a downgrade for the game. Though it does have a positive side to it, at least you have host migration now, which does not always work must I say.

    Weapon Differences
The first thing that I noticed is that every weapon has its own unique feel to it, just like in the previous MW. Now for me, that's a huge issue, if they all felt the same, I'd probably ask for a refund and buy another game. But luckily, they all feel unique, they all have their own fire rate and etc. So there's nothing to complain about here.

    Weapon Attachments
Infinity Ward pretty much nailed it with this. They added loads of new attachments compared to the previous MW in which you had only a few attachments to pick from. There are so many ways to customize your weapons now, that you're probably using a unique weapon set up in your match. You even have a perk which allows you to put two weapon attachments on your weapon, for example; using thermal sights and a silencer attachment on your sniper rifle in combination with the cold blooded perk which makes you the perfect sniper in snowy conditions. Simply amazing.

    Heartbeat Sensor

    Maps
Now one of the few things that I've been waiting for were the new maps with a bigger height elevation difference. The original maps from MW1 didn't have much height difference in them, until later the map pack came out, which they cut out the middleman here and made the maps good from scratch.

Also the amount of buildings in MW2 appeal much more to me than in MW1. But since I didn't get the map pack for MW1, I can't really say on behalf of that. But what I can say (compared to the original MW1 maps) is that they added allot more buildings in which you can walk, trenches and etc. basically hide out spots, to surprise your opponent or plan an attack. Which I'm personally glad about since you have more options to choose from on how you're going to attack or sneak upon your enemy.

    MP Map Favela

    MP Modes
More multi-player modes. Yes, they added a bunch of new modes to the game, two of them are; capture the flag, which is extremely fun especially when playing with friends, and the 3RD person view modes. All the new modes are unique in their own way, other than that there isn't much to say about them.

    Perks
Well the last thing which made a bit of a new entry are the new perks. You have new kill-streak perks, death-streak and passive perks now. They can all sort of upgrade to a better perk (except for the kill-streak perks of course), for example you pick up more ammo from a dead enemy with the upgraded scavenger perk. The perks are pretty much self explanatory, so I won't say much about them, other than that they are well balanced in my opinion.

    Conclusion
There are numerous small things which make this game great, such as shooting down the enemy UAV or helicopter with your gun, or just by using a heat guided missile launcher. And there are allot more new things of course, but I'd rather keep it at this. All in all, I'd recommend you to get this game if you're new to the franchise. For the people who own the first Modern Warfare and are wondering if they should get this second part. I'd say go get it, there are loads and loads of new things and this one will definitely rock your socks.

I Know exactly what you mean, in MW1 I just steam rolled everyone, nobody could stop me. But when I started playing MW2, man I expected still to be good, little did I know that I was getting completely owned for the first few hours of playing. Once you get used to it you'll be owning again though, so no worries. ;]
