    Default A thank you letter

So i have to write a thank you letter to some anonymous donors, that donated about 500$ to my classroom for books

    ( i live in a poor area ) [ poor myself ]

Anyways i am not so great with letters like that, but basically i am suppose to write it without knowing the persons name just a page on how i appreciate it and thank you so much ect.. would anyone mind writing me a paragraph or two or three? really quick, iv noticed there are some great writers here i want to baffle my teacher with this letter =]

What i am receiving because of the donation ( in case you want to use in the letter )

2 books ( that i will get to keep)
    sticky notes
    & a packet of highlighters

i know its not much to some here, but it got me happy =)

Of course this is not a demand, i am just asking if anyone would be willing to do it, so if you don't want to its cool no need for flame thanks.

Man, I'm sure you can do it.

Just lay it on real thick with these types of things...teachers LOVE it.

    Dear Anonymous Benefactor,

Thank you so much for your donation of 2 books, one pack of highlighters and a pad of sticky notes. Your sincere and heartfelt donation will go a long way towards our education.

I have already put one of the books to good use. I ran out of toilet paper the other day, so I found that the smooth, high-quality paper of Catch 22 made an excellent way to wipe my behind. The pages of Joseph Heller's modern American classic fared quite well against my stool. Unfortunately, I am no longer in possession of the other book, Wuthering Heights, because I traded it to a classmate for half of a delicious Hostess Snack Cake.

The highlighters are an excellent gift as well. Despite the fact that they are non-toxic Sharpie Accents, and thus I cannot get high off of them (I tried for several hours), I have put them to good use. Used in conjunction with the pad of post-it notes, I created a flipbook of a stick figure dunking a basketball. The force of the slam dunk breaks the backboard, and then the falling glass shards impale the stickman. It's quite comical, I know.

    Very truly yours,

    A Grateful Student

Write something funny, because your doner will most likely recieve 30+ letters, and he'll get a bit bored even if he's happy to be appreciated while reading 30+ letters saying aprox. the same thing. If you read one, you've read them all. So write something whimsical that will make his/her day. Or even a poem. Make it a funny one though.

I’m writing to thank you for your donation and tell you about how it has already changed my life, originally I was a little hesitant to take donations from another person as I believe we should all earn what we have but after my teacher told me that they had spent all the money on the best drugs they could get their hands on I was won over, since that day I have had the time of my life, experiencing unparalleled highs and not only that, your donation has opened my eyes to a whole new world of wonders including underage sex and drinking as well as showing me how truly attractive my teacher is, I never knew a person of that age could have such an appetite for sex and drugs. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and hope that you bless us with another donation in the near future.

How are you trying to justify this? You're cheating to win a prize, which I'd say is a bit more cruel than cheating for just a grade, because you're forgetting about the other people in your class. How is it fair if you win with a paper you plagiarized from this website and steal it from one of the kids that took the time and put forth the effort to write a letter of their own? It's not.

Guys it's surely not that hard to donate the OP a letter of thankfulness for the donations he received. Remember the saying is, "Don't Hate! Donate!"

    To Whom It May Concern,

Seriously? Dude...just $500? How cheap could possibly be? We're ****ing poor man and you throw $500 at us? That's like giving a bum on the street a mint when he's asking for food to feed his family. You're just teasing us and leaving us longing for more. Shit, I bet you're just some **** who got a bonus and was like hey...I'll do some good and donate to some people who aren't as well off as me. WELL GUESS WHAT?! **** YOU MAN! COME BACK WHEN YOU HAVE SOME REAL PAPER BEITCH!

Yeah something ungrateful like that...yet so true >_> in a way. Kind of.

I see what you did there >_>

    Ok, here you go DneL.

    Dear __________,

Thank you very much for your donation of $500. We received useful things for our class, such as books and other writing supplies. Without kind and generous people like you, it would be difficult to get the things we need to become good students. Learning and going to class becomes a lot more exciting when we know that we don't have to worry about little things like money to pay for materials and supplies. I know what its like to not be able to get the things you need, and a small gift goes a very long way!

Your donation will go a long way. Thank you!

I shortened it and reworded what I deemed bad (for example: too many repetitions, or weak words such as "things"). Here is my take on it.

    Dear __________,

Thank you very much for your donations. We could use them, to buy useful books and other writing supplies for our class. Learning finally got exciting and much more productive, as we have access to these materials. I know what its like to not be able to get these and you have made me very happy with this unexpected present. A small gift goes a very long way!

Your donation will serve very well, to enhance our studies. Thank you.

    This man speaks the truth.

You don't have to be overly greatfull for it, but the least you could do is actually thank them instead of ripping a letter off a forum.

    1. I didn't ask for the donation
    2. i did not receive any money
    3. the donation is not for me to spend on anything id want.

How does that make me a prick?

My teacher asked us to write a letter, i would think we should have a choice?

i really do not see where it would make me a prick, neither do i see what you benefit from posting here.

Usually when i don't approve/agree with someone's actions for example you not agreeing with me i keep it moving, you should do the same.

    EDIT: Thanks duck & ronan

    :

"I've spent the past few hours trying to think of something to put down, that'll be pleasing and complementary, but being an anonymous donor, it's safe to say you're not looking to have your ego massaged. I know we're just typical kids, at a typical inner-city school, and that's how a lot of people just see us, but for me, the money isn't the most important thing here, to me, it's a sign that there are people who I have never and may never met, people who will have no direct contact me - care about me. It's hard to convey in a letter, a letter which can never properly illustrate what I'm actually feeling, but to know there is someone out there, looking out for us kids, gives me hope for my future, and stubs out the bitterness the outside world sometimes can infect you with.

Right now, reading this letter, it may seem a bit cheesy, a bit Hollywood, but hopefully you'll keep this letter and whenever you're doubting yourself, or just feeling bad, or even as an old man/woman who's memory isn't as reliable as it used to be, you'll pick up this letter again and see that you've had such an effect on a kid like me.

As the saying goes, every flap of a butterfly's wings, has the power to birth tornadoes."

    Or something like that.
