    Default Hand/wrist pain from gaming?

For the past two days I've been experiencing some pain my hands, probably from playing Aion. In my left hand I started to feel an ache in my palm and feel weakness in that hand. Because of that I tried using the mouse only and now my right wrist is in pain.

I find it somewhat odd considering that I'm not playing a CRAZY amount and I've never had this problem before, even when I was playing WoW/FlyFF/Atlantica etc for long periods. Maybe I'm getting old. Anyone else ever had this problem? Did it go away? I really can't afford to be crippled like this because my finals are coming up and I need to be able to type.

Sounds like Carpal Tunnel. It can happen even if you don't play alot.

My wrists sound like cement mixers.

I will prolly be crippled by the time I'm 30...I really hope they invent something that is controlled with your mind by then.

It happens from repetitive motions...you can buy an ergonomic keyboard and make sure your posture is right, and buy one of those wrist rests, etc...or just wreck your wrists like I have, because all that shit is pretty annoying to work with.

try not playing for a couple weeks>? i got over my game addiction by buying flstudio and screwing around with hardstyle songs ^^ lotta fun and i could sell 3 song on a cd to others for 2 bucks (while a stack of 100 of these cheap cd only cost me 6 bucks lol)

but on the otrher hand idk if that will help with wrist pain>? you might also have very high blood pressure there are many small arteries in you wrist..so go see a doctor>?

I had the same problems when I was pvping a lot in Wow. I had to crack my knuckles and wiggle my wrists around. But if you're getting old, you might want to get a brace.

Most likely it's carpal tunnel, that gets caused by consistent clicking and typing, the little motions you do with your fingers on a computer are hell on your joints added up over the years.

You should probably go to the doctor's and ask him to check you up, definitely better to spend twenty dollars on an examination than have a practically paralyzed hand.

If your wrist is just sore after some gaming, try a mousepad with a little gel base:

Hmm maybe you are not using the correct posture.

Rest your wrist on the table and try using your whole arm to move the mouse.

    She knows how to party.

Sounds like Carpal Tunnel if it's not bad yet get an ergonomic keyboard and mouse. If it is bad go to the doctor you may have to get a steroid shot. Also a wrist brace helps a lot.

Don't listen to these ******s who are saying 'most likely it's carpal tunnel' just because you're having hand/wrist pains. They're not doctors.

Your hand/wrist are probably just sore from where your hand has been resting for long periods of time, and clicking. It happened to me when I was playing GunZ a lot... that's why I think more MMORPGs should offer controller support and partly why I enjoy FFXI so much.

Take advil, put your wrist on some sort of cushion when you're using your mouse... take a break from gaming if you want.

If you're really worried, you should see a doctor

So what, because we point to one of the most likely results, we're mentally ******ed? That's a pretty big leap, all the way down to 59 goddamn IQ.

The cushion thing is right, but the advil probably isn't the best for you cos of the asprin.

I just think jumping to the conclusion that he "probably" has carpal tunnel syndrome from the pain he described is really extreme.
"one of the most likely results" is bull.
no point in freaking him out... you probably don't even know what carpal tunnel syndrome is. it doesn't just pop up like that. if he went to the doctor and asked if he had carpal tunnel syndrome, the doctor would probably laugh a little.

I'm not saying it couldn't be something more serious, but it's probably just soreness. and if not, I think I would jump to a different conclusion involving an injury to the wrist before carpal tunnel.

That's how it starts some wrist pain here and there later it gets worse and you start to drop things and your hand goes numb from time to time. ANY sort of repetitive motion over time can cause carpal tunnel. Trust me mine started off as a sore wrist every once in a while I wrote if off at first. Later I found I had carpal tunnel. It may not be so in this case but he should if it's happening often go to the doctor.

if you fap and frag with the same hand then you just need to take a break from your fapping or your fragging, or both if its really bad.

incidentally, alot of people (well, gamers and keybawd warriorz) get this from sitting in crappy postures or using a rubbish mouse.

its carpel tunnel.... just stop playing games for awhile and itll go away or seem to also stretch your wrist and work your hands when you can (no not fap) meaning move them around and maybe play with a stress ball (again not fap)

Guys, my head hurts, I think I might have a brain tumor.
DURR HURR. Why jump directly to the worst possible diagnosis? Is it because Carpal Tunnel is fashionable?

Anyway. I have pain in my wrists from time to time, sometimes from writing a lot, sometimes from gaming a lot. And no, it's not carpal tunnel. Just take a break and see if it calms down, if not, go see a doctor.

lol, the whole left side of my right hand's palm was numb, from the top of the pinky down to the fat part that connects to the wrist, due to gaming.

the feeling has been coming back slowly, i hope its not that one stuff

    carpal tunnel? you're kidding right?

I suspect its just RSI. Make sure to do streches on your wrist and exercise it properly. It should go away in a day or two.

Reptitive motion you say? I suggest Doing Something Else. Maybe a sport or anything that floats your boat. Just don't do gaming until the pain goes away.

Good thing you italicized and bolded the "doing something else part" or else I might have misinterpreted it and started doing the same thing
