While man veterans hoped and prayed for this to finally come out, they got their wishes. And with such wishes, come huge downfalls. Not surprisingly enough, TQ got lazy with doing this, therefore, they themselves will suffer in the end.
The Launch
The launch of CO 1.0 was much anticipated, many patched their clients up just to wait and see what it would be like. I, myself, have been eagerly awaiting, but sadly... I wasn't satisfied. At all. Why, you may ask? Because of this:
*It's built off the CO 2.0 client.
*There is only ONE SERVER.
Now, the above problems may not seem that bad at first, but I'll show you the flaws:
When many people expected CO 1.0 to come out, they expected the old interface/client. Sadly, we got something different. It's like a private server basically. Hell, I'd much rather play an old Conquer Online server than even bother to play this right now.
Speaking of crap, the one server issue is HUGE. There is only one server (Liberty) which is for the USA.. there is no EU server. :/ I'm not from Europe or anything, but if TQ had made that server IN ADVANCE it would avoid the constant error message: "The server is full. Please try again later!"
After awhile, I finally managed to play... I was surprised at the amount of people who were here. And thankfully, all the terrible features (CP mall, DB trader, etc etc) were removed. This gave me a natural wave of nostlagia back when I had played in 2005. I then start to do the beginning quests that they give you (which... shouldn't be there, but then again, the server itself is server-sided instead of client sided...) and get towards the part to kill 10 pheasants. As soon as I step out of Twin City?
FFFFFFFFF--
JESUS CHRIST.
There were never this much people outside of Twin City, and you know, that's not even the half of it. Inside of Twin City is a whole bunch of idlers (taking up server space, mind you) and 3x the size of that directly further outside of TC.
Everybody was hunting the same thing I was: pheasants; I have yet to get on. At all. Which is terrible...
All and all, the server was executed badly. TQ never thought, "Hey, what if old European players wanted to play too?" or, "Hey, let's not be lazy for once and ACTUALLY BRING BACK CO 1.0 INSTEAD OF A CHEAP IMITATION."
No. They didn't even think. Now we are stuck with this mess for the next few days.
If you were planning to play CO 1.0? Don't. At least, not right now. Wait a few days, hell, even a month before you start playing. The constant server overload, the in-ability to kill anything, the lag, and the laziness of TQ has doomed what would be every player's dream, to a horrible nightmare.
I'm a big Conquer Online fan, and I have been waiting for this, but right now, it's just impossible to play.
