Default Why are gamers the worst consumers on the planet?

Copied from elsewheres, and it made perfect sense to me (sadly) D:

It makes no sense to me, why the **** would you be a "Fanboy" of one system and then pay out the other systems and it's games?
Why would you argue about "The PS3 version has 2 less FPS than the Xbox360 version" then go on and defend companies that actively go out of their way to screw you over and give you less features than the norm (at a higher price point) for more profit?

Why don't gamers want more features and benefits in their games? if I'm paying 60 dollars for a game that probably didn't even cost a few million to make, why is my sense of "Entitlement" such a bad thing?

Movies cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make, their market is now smaller than the gaming market and they sell their products for ****ing $10.

Modern Warfare 2 - 40 million dollars spent on it by Activision (Budget hollywood movie)
    $550 million opening week.
    $69 dollar retail.

The Dark Knight - 185 million dollars spent.
    $158 million opening week.
    $16 dollars retail.
And yes, I understand you put a lot more time into a video game. This is purely in a monetary sense, so keep that out of here.

Makes sense, but if you think about it, with DLC(PC) you pay $50, but get to use it for like a year, which cost the same as 5 view of the same movie, which last about 1-2 hours, I'd say a game is more worth it, assuming you have the platform, of course.

Ta-da! Jailed and fined $25,000! But seriously, $50 for a good game and you're complaining, a movie, I suppose since they have worldwide sales. Games are generally centered around the area it's released.

Brad Pitt has bought the rights of a Capcom game to be made into a movie.

That sure came out of nowhere.
Let's make a movie for a remotely dull looking game that isn't even out yet! I see nothing wrong with this plan!

(the "remotely dull looking" part is purely my opinion, of course)

That game reminds me of GTA. (not IV which was the only good 1) Where the only fun thing is driving in the vehicles and going off ramps, while in here its just flying around randomly in a jet pack you dont even get until like mid game

Nobody stands up for a better life anymore. We rather spend a ridiculous amount of money on something that was half-assed. If it was up to me everyone would pirate games and then buy them if they felt the developers deserved the money.

As far as the price between movies and video games gos, video games last a lot longer then movies do. A good movie will last an hour and a half. A good game will last around 10-40 hours(although companies seem to feel like seeing just how little they can get away with nowadays).

And while we're on the subject, why the hell did you guys let 3 Resident Evil movies get made?

People really love to understand posts before raging.

I said the post made sense in monetary terms. Ugh.

IE. we pay less for something that costs several times more to make.

And to think, all the time and money spent on that movie could be used to remove that stupid inventory menu and Sheva from Resident Evil 5.

This is true for Games, Movies, Books, etc

Squeals do better than Original IPs.

This holds true to adaptations and remakes. "Oh Jurassic Park the book sold 20 million copies? Lets make a movie we already have 20 million tickets sold."

Money makes the world go round 99% of the time, even more so in a down economy. People don't want to risk their dollar on something new when they know what they are getting with a squeal.

Cuz apparently standing still while shooting "zombie" hordes is life like and makes you epic.

    What?

I meant the over the shoulder crap. I gave up on it around 20 minutes in after playing at a friends house, it was just stupid. I don't MIND over the shoulder, but it just didn't work for that game IMO.

    Ummm.. what?

I work in the Film Industry and most of what we make is a remake, retelling, pure squeal, or reality.

I take it you weren't an RE4 fan either?

I didn't care for it at first, but I eventually got used to it.

But when sequels are made the vast majority of the time the sequels are horrible. Sure, some sequels such as the original Star Wars trilogy turn out well, but it's all to common that companies crank out a shameless sequel only to make money regardless of the movie's actual quality yet people still go and see them. Was there anyone out there who actually thought the 3rd Matrix movie would be better then the 2nd or has pattern recognition been lost on our generation?

most games arent even worth the money these days. There are no new concepts at all. They're all the fuggin same. Just wrapped up and packaged with better graphics = + another $10. just my opinion. Also most sequels to older major successes in the gaming industry suck. Look at AoE 3. And... CoD WaW. I thought fighting the Japanese in the pacific would give a diff call of duty feel.. make it more exciting and fun.. NEW.. but NO.... They game failed to make me play it for more than 3 days cus I got sooo bored of it. After playing most games these days u get bored. I was never bored of new games in the early 2000s. Perhaps I've seen every genre.. Idk.
