1. You should lag at all, connection-wise or frame rate. You might get some frame lag during large boss fights if you have a poor PC.

2. IP blocked in Europe, unless you have an account from before Maple Story EU started... so if you're from Europe, you could work around this somehow I'm sure.

3. Doesn't really matter but if you're "hardcore" I wouldn't start on the newer, small servers. I have a Dark Knight and Bishop on Kradia and after a certain point I was just not able to get all the items I needed on the free market. Not enough people killing the big game.
Windia is probably a solid choice if you want to go with that.

4. Community is friendly, but immature and some are very young. As everyone else said, high level players are almost looked up to as "elders" and people with fashionable NX equipment are regarded as being more elite.

5. Perhaps. Kids who are just trying to socialize and f**k around usually stay clustered together in certain areas like Henesys (one of the beginner towns, for the archer advancement). Most people do their own thing in other parts. There are certain areas on your path towards the upper levels where you'll be forced to face off against little kids in party quests which force you to race to kill monsters fastest - winners get experience rewards. Potential for ragequitting there, but it's not terrible. If you're specifically opposed to playing with kids and teens there are generally at least a few guilds on every server comprised of more hardcore gamers, typically age 18+.
