    Default (Y)Our favorite MMOs

    Hey guys!

I'm pretty sure you all have a certain MMO that you prefer over all the others. It might have been your first MMO or one of the most recent ones.

We all have our own favorite MMO(s), even the journalists.

I've decided to ask some journalists about their favorite MMO and here are their answers; http://www.onrpg.com/MMO/General/fea...PG-Journalists

Oh, and congratulations to all of us! This is our first teamwork article (second if you count the V.I.G. article) .

Please be aware of the fact that only a handful of journalists had the time to write something for the article. The others were probably too busy ^^

PS: I'm aware of the spelling mistakes. They will be fixed ASAP!

So guys, what is your favorite MMO (and why)?

Honestly, I would have to say World of Warcraft.

Now after reading that I guarantee many people will now skip reading my post.

WoW just clicked with me. It really did. I liked the controls, especially the WASD movement. It's the smoothest WASD controls I've ever used. From the classes to the races (although most would say they're not the most unique named) to the world of Azaroth, to the community and the gear: I just absolutely fell in love with World of Warcraft. I've never found myself so immersed in a videogame world. Sure the combat wasn't the fastest to some, but I had no problem with it. Even if the whole time you're pressing the same combination of hotkeys a few times in a row. The instances were amazing to me, too. Starting from Ragefire Chasm to Ulduar I loved them all. And running through quests and zones and instances with friends in WoW? Awesome. I would still be playing too if it weren't P2P. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem spending $15 a month to play a game that is in fact virtually "perfect" to me, it's just that I've slowed down in my MMO life to work on things in my own life (school, work, ect.,)

All in all, I have to say World of Warcraft is in fact my favorite MMO to date.

Ultima Online. (No one saw this coming)

Because of the unique combat it presented. The fact that teamwork was still involved. Other then "Healer" / "Tank" / "DPS" wasn't there.

If you ran across a boss, you can't 5 man it, and only heal one guy. No. He'd hit ANYBODY once and you'd die. So you'd see 40-100 people killing one boss. Was amazing epic fun. The best part was, the hardcore PvP. If you died, prepare to lose everything, (this was before Insurance was in-play) of course, you could get Blessed Deeds, which you'd only use on your most powerful weapon.

The game was tons of fun, gear was nothing in the game, minus the weapons. You could kill people naked (I often did) was just...so much fun.

    Saga of Ryzom.

    Why? err.

Well it has the nicest community in a game i've ever seen, everyone will help you with anything even if it means start a noob just to help you and anyone will craft anything for you if you just ask.

I also find it has amazing graphics for when it was made and runs well even on low-end computers.

It has a Unique leveling system and a stunning visual world for you to explore and enjoy.

I could go on forever saying nice thing but there just a few xD

/edit another great thing was that you were mostly always able to team even with the highest level of people and still gain xp and have fun as there is always something you havnt lvled up yet.

My fav MMO has yet to exist.
But World of Warcraft is the closest to it.

Everything in WoW is just great, only downside is the Instances that require lots of ppl.

I have two games that I'll always remember, and like them both very very much.

    Mabinogi

I love this game mainly because of the combat system, is one of those few games where you could solo some dungeon while being 100s of levels below someone that can't solo it.
Meaning that player skill plays a huge part in combat.
And another thing I love is the storyline, few MMORPGs actually made players feel like they are part of the story, and make it a great experience at the same time. The cut-scenes, the storytelling, it's great.

    Ultima Online

Great open PvP, love the skill system (no levels), huge world with tons of stuff, and lots of stuff to craft. And fun combat.

Final Fantasy XI about five or six years ago, when I had first played. The community on the whole was larger and much friendlier. And the Dunes had worse chat then the Barrens in WoW will EVER have.

    "Mad zite?"

    Hmm...*Ponders slowly* ...hmm...

Anyways, I loved UO. I am a huge PvPer. Any games that cuddle the carebears is a lame game in my eyes. It was something where you'd go "OH SHIT I DIED" "Guys loot my shit, LOOT MY SHIT"

    "Awww fuck..."

If they made Ultima Online F2P...which they wont because...yeah..obvious reasons...then Oh mah gawd.

Well I got to say Lotro, but WoW as a close second place.

    Why?

I prefer PvE over PvP, and Lotro got amazing PvE content. Plus the community is really good (Not as good as FFXI, but still great)

I'm not a graphic *****, but Lotro's graphic is the best I've seen in an Mmorpg. (Directx 10 + Max settings)

Final Fantasy XI, it simply held my attention and proved entertaining for the longest.

I'm gonna have to say Ragnarok Online.
Well... it was the first MMORPG introduced to me and my brothers. We had a lot of fun playing it!

Ultima Online. I think enough has been said about it over the years that I don't have to explain why.

Awesome, this is what i actually like, not an fan-boy that just says Wow all over, but actually explains, what he likes about it and uses proper grammar.
Its not so bad to read about what i and maybe some other's hate the way you actually wrote it, and explained, good work .

On topic : I guess i dont really have a favorite MMO, I'm more into action based, like Rakion/Savage, the first game i played was the old ''good'' gunbound, where the community didn't suck and the cash shop item's we're not corrupted, and of course when there we're no hackers.
