    Default Your view on drugs

    Myself?

I'm a drug user. I have been for the past two years. I've had my ups and downs and all time lows, yet I still continue to use them.

I didn't really want to name any certain drug in particular, since I don't know if these posts would offend anyone or if younger kids are reading this.

Where do you stand on drugs?

I've never used any, but I don't mind at all if someone uses them, except if they do it to act cool.

Because of some things that happened to me in my past, I've gone from neutral to against drugs completely.
I think it's stupid. I can't discuss it, because my opinions are based on experiences and personal things, not on "science" or whatever, but I really, really dislike drugs.

And oh, by experiences I don't mean that I myself have been using drugs, cause I haven't.

perception is what your brain makes it. Being one with the universe is just your brains receptor being blocked or flooded, or your perception distorted. its not some "new found" sight, its just distorted perception...

and all ive ever done is some MJ...dont plan on doing anything else, considering both my parents blessed me with an addictive personality, i dont see me doing drugs ending well, since i cant even say no to MJ if asked.

i dont care if others do it as long as they dont bug me when their high, but i prob cant handle them.

The term psychedelic is derived from the Greek words ψυχή (psyche, "mind") and δηλείν (delein, "to manifest"), translating to "mind-manifesting". The implication is that the psychedelics can access and develop unused potentials of the human mind.
Psychedelics are thought to disable the brain's filtering ability to selectively prevent certain perceptions, emotions, memories and thoughts from ever reaching the conscious mind, an idea first introduced by Aldous Huxley in The Doors of Perception. These signals are presumed to originate in several other functions of the brain, including but not limited to the senses, emotions, memories, and the unconscious (or subconscious) mind.
If you would read about psychadelic drugs, it's really interesting.

Drugs are stupid. Especially around my area where kids are always like, " Man can't wait till tomorrow so we can smoke some weed n pot n shit n get high man.", " Yo, i got some shrooms come over man lets get high man lets start trippin...". Its stupid how these kids think that it will make them "cool". Pot doesnt hurt you man, just gets you high thats it. Pick a blunt up once and never do it again. Isnt that ****ing easy. Dont do drugs, its life destruction and if you think doing it once and saying you have the state of mind to not do it again, your wrong. Once you do it, you are used to doing it so being approached again with the same situation, you will do it again and again and slowly but surely ruin your life, the lives of family members and close friends and become some crippled mentally disabled screw up in rehab trying to recover.

You know a lot of that message is easier to relate to when you are younger and the general problem of getting along in life pretty much fills out your daily routine, especially music wise.

    However, for example, David Bowie who I see much more as an artist in any sense than Morrison, was very much aware of the overstated pathos and the arrogant pretentiousness of the work when it happened to be significant;
This awareness, he used it for the purpose of the effect, of illustrating what happens (It didn't become exactly clear if he made that connection at that time, but he certainly did later on).

That is the transition towards art and the moment where it encompasses the irony of the imperfection of live.

Morrison never took that step and his message was platitudes.

Drugs are really just a personal choice. Whether you see them as beneficial or harmful is up to you, personally, I think if you have a drug problem, you should seek help but like I said, it is all personal opinion and the users choice, no matter others views.

My dad got into alot of perscriptions, pain killers and all... Divorced now, an assualt charge.

My Aunt's other kid almost died, started doing drugs and not eating.

Everyone has been affected by this. Drugs CAN f*ck sh*t up.

So, no. Drugs didn't do that. They did. Sorry. I know we'd all love to blame everything else except the ones we love, but it's not true nor is it fair.

I've never done drugs, nor to I plan to. I don't have any problem with people who do use them though. (If they're like Oister, and actually know wtf they are doing.) But the people who are like "Yeah! Let's go get f*cked up!" and the people using them to be cool are the people I have problems with.

I guess it's just something you can't understand until you've expierenced it.

She started them to deal with the ghosts of her past. Abuse, ****, and so forth. Being lied to all your life can suddenly change alot of things. Depression makes people do stupid things, like shooting up heroine to escape the pain.

Penty of things can cause altercations to peoples thought process. Depression isn't a choice, it's a medical condition. If there is a history of depression in your family, it can do doubt appear in a child for no real reason.

Lots of people have their behavior and lifestyles changed by drugs. I know tons of people who were perfectly fine, ambitious and hardworking, but after they started using drugs a little too much their personalities and outlook on life changed. So its stupid to say drugs don't do anything, because clearly the person's bad choices + the effect of the drugs both make a huge difference.

I don't have a problem with recreational drug use, but, those who are using it to escape issues in their lives or people who are addicted are really going to far and need to be helped rather than hounded by the law.

To play devil's advocate, while you may not have a problem with the use of drugs, to use a drug you must first obtain it. Now, to site an example, the Mexican Drug War was caused by people wanting drugs, if you agree with people using drugs then you have to realize what happens when the demand is so great. People get killed, abused, sold into basically slavery and all that stuff.

However, from my point of view that's more the fault of the oppression of the use of drugs, if drugs were legal and supported by the government and professional companies supplied the substances through controllable means, none of the issues would happen, however, as it stands...
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear.

You shout and no one seems to hear.

meh, put me down for option 4. That is, for psychadelic drugs. Probably wouldn't touch anything addictive, ie. would never touch heroin

Anyone can do it anyway. Drugs becoming legal do not mean that someone who has hated drugs their whole life will go out and do heroin.

What it DOES mean is that someone curious about pot, or drugs in general, will be able to try them without getting tossed in jail. You shouldn't have to worry about legal action for taking a substance into your own body.

Drug laws will always be hypocritical until they either legalise it all, or outlaw tobacco and alcohol.

If you're not sure if you can handle drugs, then don't do them at all.

If you're in a position in life where such ruination would be bad, then don't risk it. There's no excuse.

It's not the drugs' fault, stop blaming them.

Someone's stupid decision and choice to kill their mother after playing Halo was pretty bad. They were probably fine before the game, though.

There is enough knowledge on drugs in this day and age to know precisely what people can be capable of under the influence of them, and which are generally more dangerous than others.

If you ignore this, I am never going to blame the substance. I'm going to blame the person.
oh becuase ppl with depression and issues think clearly...its not the disorder its the person...

Okay my take on drugs...for some reason this excludes oisterboy (because he does it in a manner that isn't annoying, nor does he do it to show off.)

I think people who post on the internet about drugs are really lame. Like people who have to post weed refference any chance they get. 90% of the time, those people have never touched marijuana and it pisses me off. Like it doesn't remotely make you look cool to say "OH I SMOKE WEED" oh wow, you're cool. I mean i'll admit, in my younger days. I would smoke weed and like post "i'm high" yet i'd continue with a post, and i'd say I'm high" just so people would know if my post made no sense, well that's why.

What drugs have I done? Nothing hardcore. I used to smoke a lot of weed, thank god I quit. For many reasons. I've done extacy, that's something you surely want to stay away from. It gives you the most (false) happiness you'll ever feel in your whole life. Your whole body just feels like a giant orgasm. Although the next day, your jaws are going to hate you. I've had Bo (Cough syrup mixed with codeine with promethazine.) That makes you feel...light. Some of you may know it when you mix it with sprite and a jolly rancher. Some people just dip their blunts in it, but i really advise you not to if you plan to continue smoking weed because then a blunt will never be the same for you. I've had Lortabs (hydrocodone and acetaminophen), which it's an opiate in pill form. Those have you feeling really relaxed. Hmm, I wouldn't really call alcohol a drug, but i've been drunk.

All I got to say is if you publicize your drug use, you're really lame. (Again, excluding oisterboy, he does it in a...what's the word...classy way.) Those little 14 year old kids who think they look cool just because they've smoked, no you look lame and you'll realize it when you're older. If you don't, then I pray to god one day you do. I used to think I looked cool smoking weed, but it's such a turn off. It's ugly, it smells, and you look stupid high. Yeah being high with your friends is fun and all, but have them get high and hang out with them. Are they very fun anymore? No. Don't give me that BS answer "Oh then I get to mess with them" Grow up.

My honest opinion on drugs, i'm past them and they're stupid.

EDIT: after reading I read this

"once took some pills my freinds gave to me for the next three days i was followed by a giant spider that kept talking about bonanza after that i kept seeing it crawling around for a week then it finally wore off."

You're full of shit. You're HELLA lying. Because first you said for three days you were followed by a giant spider. Meaning it lasted 3 days. Then you said after a week it disappeared. Not to mention if a giant ****ing spider was following you for more than a ****ing day, and of you freaking out someone would have called 911.

See that's what I mean I hate the little liars on the internet who think they look cool having a "drug experience" even though it's such a bull shit lie.

Yeah, Well pot helps for that too. I'm kinda twitchy, a little high strung at times. Just a little weed and the edge is gone. I can concentrate on the music, and make less mistakes playing it.

But the problem is spending 3 minutes straight playing the C chord because it's blowing your ****ing mind.

But, I would choose music over drugs any day.

Bands like Tool, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin chose music and drugs.

Some mixed the two, this resulted in such things as; Lateralus, Sgt. Pepper's..., The Dark Side of the Moon and Led Zeppelin 4.

You know, just so you don't forget that like anything, drugs can produced or help produce good things, not just bad.

Not everyone that posted on this thread was a liar, but I know what you mean. People trying to contribute to the conversation about drugs saying they've been high and telling a ridiculous story that sounds so absurd. I totally agree with you on that.
well first i'd like to say, i'm not a "sir." thank you very much.

as for contradiction? no i was just simply stating, there's nothing great about them. i've done them yes. now am i flaunting it around going "OH I DID DRUGS IM KEWL!" no. so it wasn't even really a contradiction to begin with...

nah never did drugs and probably never will. its just too complicated, you dont know what kind of a reaction youll have. drinking a beer is alot simpler and you know where you stand with alcohol. thats really only the majorly unhealthy thing i do regularly.

but i can understand why other people take drugs and i dont have a problem with it.... unless one of my friends started doing meth or something ******ed like that.
