Some FPS games, the female actually has a smaller hitbox.
There is a group of mercs in FoM that all chose female because of that reason.

Usually in single player rpgs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect I choose male because it is more story driven and the character feels more like a projection of yourself.
But in MMORPGs I choose female or male. Sometimes female because of how bad the male characters look.

I choose my "game gender" based on what class I'm going to. For example if I play a knight or warrior then it would be a male and if I play x-bow or bow then it would be a female. For mages, if attack type then male and if healer type then it's female. For Bladers and Gunners, it can be both.
