Male/Famale in game. Which do you prefer?

i only play guys but if the class that i want to play is only for females i will play one. In my opinion the guys who are playing females are strange xD (in games where you have the choice)

I usually prefer male (since I am a male, lol). Unless I play mage, then I pick female usually.

I play male because I'm a guy. Its an RPG, so you're playing the role of your character. If you chose a female, you're playing the role of a female. Although in some single player RPG's there are females as the man characters so I guess it doesn't really matter.

If I dislike the options for a certain Race.. then I will go Male. And I also use Wicked as a female name..so if that is taken..I am stumped on girl names. lol

It really depends on the class, if I want a tank then male.
Rogue usually female and mage a mixture.

I play both and a guy playing a girl char doesn't make them gay or anything. They just rather look at a female character than a male character. If a guy plays as a female char AND acts like a girl, then I think that's wrong. But if they, like me, just play as females for the eyecandy but don't go around pretending they're girls, then it's alright I think.
It's the same thing as some ppl having girls in their avatars or sigs in forums. It doesn't make them gay, they just think it looks good.
In fact I use female characters in most sigs I make.

Being "openly perverted" has been okay for a long time. Maybe not in Sweden, but where I live, everyone makes perverted jokes and knows that it is human nature to be perverted. It's in the culture and it is far from unusual. Though I might not agree with every aspect of it, it is seen as a good thing around here.
And game developers design the way female characters look for a reason. Will girls really like the way their characters look? Or is it to attract guys? There's almost always female characters on the ads of games and it's not to attract girls.

It is human nature to be sexually attacted to either the opposite or same sex. That's not the same as being perverted. There is a difference.

A question concerning the"liberation" where you live: is it no deal at all if your girlfriend catches you watching porn? It is totally okay to do sexist jokes about females in front of them? Just trying to understand the social stigma your society has attached to such behaviour.

It depends on who you ask I suppose. In some relationships, having other sexual partners are okay as long as no emotions are involved.

Not saying that any perspective is better than another though. I can perfectly picture myself growing up during different conditions and adapting to different norms.

I don't have mental disorder some guys choose female character because most of male character model looks gay or they all look the same. Every game i had played doesn't have good looking male character they all suck.

I don't really care so much in the games where you have no choice, i.e. Tomb Raider, Bayonetta or Kameo, all games that you have to be female. But, if I do have the choice, I usually pick male.

Let me ask this to those people who seem so against playing a character opposite of their gender.

"Would you play any game where the character was the opposite of your main gender and was the main character?"

Because there are lots of games out their that have you play as character's opposite of your gender and you don't have a choice.

If you are a guy would you decide not to play final fantasy XIII because the main character is a female?

And if you say you wouldn't mind then why would you mind in a game where you get a choice of gender?

If you think because you are trying to project yourself onto that character then why would you agree to playing any game out there that has the opposite gender character?

The reason I don't mind playing a character of the opposite gender is because I am not projecting myself onto that character but rather just tagging along for the ride. Just like when I play a single player game with a female character it is more like I am watching a movie or reading a book.

It would be like watching a movie or reading a book and being able to choose who the main character will be.

Now if you are going to try to say "well you will use your character to interact with others", then I will just say it doesn't matter.

Why does gender matter at all in a virtual world?

The only reason I can see for someone getting mad about the opposite gender crap is that they were duped into liking someone who turns out to be the other gender.

And my response to that would be "go outside and find a real person to start a relationship with and leave that crap out of the game".

This is one of the smartest responses I have read. I can bet anyone on this forum that if they have played super mario 2 they have atleast played the princess one or more times. What you play gender wise on a game has nothing to do with RL. I have always thought this subject is so stupid cause I don't think anyone here or anywhere else has never played a game that didn't have a girl as the main character. And the ones that say they haven't just have some mental problems or straight out lies. I personally will play any gender I want depending on the class and game. Unless the game locks it then you don't have a choice.

Varies as well~ I generally pick female mainly because of the elegance and beauty they offer in relation to the environment and setting of the game~

I would pick male if the armor/equipment appearance on them look so badass that picking a female is just not an option. :3

As irony said, it doesn't matter, i play both male and female, not because i'm perverted, but because in the games i play, i usually make an effort to roleplay my character

I roleplay as a female because much like with choosing a character, gender doesn't matter to me. Some classes i prefer to roleplay out a female character, such as fighters, while i prefer to play a snarky rogue whom is male.

People who think that genders make a diffrence in a game are the same people who dated someone on an mmo and got butthurt when they realized they were actually a guy.

In most games I'll play male. For flyff I play a male for my main character, but for my assist(Healer)I'll play a female due to getting parties easier and the armor looks alot better on females. Looks pretty gay on males.
