It's turnbased, and it's not good...
Since you can't turn off animations you'll put in commands for about 10 seconds then watch 3 minutes of your group attacking.

after playing it for a little bit,
gameplay is actually pretty fun, but it suffers from slowness (though my computer satisfy the recommended settings) during battle. Also TrueElements is right on how the critical trigger is very confusing because you have absolutely no idea where teh XYAB buttons are unless you do a long trial and error sequence.
