    Default Avatar Movie

I will but it bluntly, the best movie I have ever seen in my life.
It's the most visually beautiful movie made to date. Looking at the forest is like looking at real life... or a life we all wish we had.
The people look so real it's as if they are all actors.
The story line is pretty predictable but that's not the point, there wasn't 10 seconds of boredom at one time for the entire movie and I cannot say that about any LOTR, Star Wars, Star Trek or any Johnny Depp movie have seen. If you have not seen this movie or are on the wall about seeing it I would say go. I saw it in IMAX 3D which is wonderful, it shows great depth and you get to see how Alice and Wonderland will look (looks so sick in 3D).
Anyone else seen it and have comments?

Made a deal with my boyfriend that we wouldn't see it until the weekend. The story isn't what I would call attractive, but the visuals, oh wow. The trailer gets me pretty excited.

A few of my friends have been able to see it and they essentially summed it up as they shat themselves. Story wise I really think most ideas have been played out so that doesn't bother me, can't wait to see it myself.

The 3D version is the ONLY VERSION you should see. The whole concept of immersion is so well achieved with the absolutely stunning level of this movie, that you get totally absorbed into it. I went with a group of friends and NONE of us had even touched out drinks when we walked out of the cinema. We FORGOT to eat our M&Ms and popcorn. That's how amazing this movie is.

Agreed, story-wise it has major cliches. And a lot of concepts are translated into something WE (the audience) can easily understand. Things that apply to our experience here on earth anno 2009/2010. But the level of DETAIL, not just in the animation but also in all the movements, expressions, step-by-step actions that made the actors look like they were FROM that place. They took all the detail that much further than all science-fiction films so far!

In fact it makes me want to draw again...

Man this movie just made me think. I'm 1/8 Native American. And I really loved the movie because they were just like Native Americans. One with Nature and everything.
Even though we wouldn't have computers if we lived like that, but I would easily give all that up to live like that. Because its like he said in the movie to their god. "We killed our Mother" and its so true.
I mean the Earth has so many secretes. There is no telling how many plants and animals we killed off forever. There could be so many plants we killed in the Rain Forest that could have cured so much. Think of all the sickness we brought to the Native Americans once we came over here, and they tried to teach us their ways but we didn't listen, we just took their land. Just like they tried doing in this movie.
I don't know I could keep going on. But I think everyone gets my point.
I also loved how the movie looked. And how they looked kinda like cats. The man worked on this movie for 15 years.

You forgot District 9, which was also great.

I don't know the exact premise of Avatar. I thought it was some video game/movie adaptation and the commercials were saying it was as great as Titanic... But I will say this does look interesting.

It just looks too predictable to me.

Though if someone wanted me to go with them, I probably would.

Kenshin I gotta admit I kinda felt the same way after, I just cannot believe how beautiful the landscape was, these are those type of movies you are happy they make long (unlike some that are long because they have to follow a book). I don't know if people should go to this expecting a great story, I thought the story was beautiful in how it was told but of course the one down side anyone can find (reviewers) is that the story is to common, but what would one expect? 90% of movies that are made now adays have plainly obvious storylines. This movie just makes you think, which is weird for me to do after an "action" movie.

I'm calling lies on this, sorry.

Anyway, movie was beautiful. Plot was dire. It was moving art, not a good movie.

Just came back from the cinema from watching it. Was slow, used cheap devices, characters sucked, it lacked real filming which impacted the actor's abilities greatly, was very predictable, the graphics were typical (a lot more could've been done ot enhance the textures).

Nah, it was okay. I was tired whilst watching it, so I didn't really have the patience for it. It didn't really meet my expectations though.

Anybody who wants to pay money to watch it in 3D should be castrated. 3D film is a cancer; it's cheap, completely misses the point of a movie, and it's just a money-grabber.

    Moon, for me.

Sam Rockwell carried that movie on his own (Literally) and all the groundbreaking, memorable art in Avatar won't top the human element that he brought to that role.

Avatar is an amazing piece of art, but a great movie? Movie of the year? No.

Moon, Inglourious Basterds, Anti-Christ and Up are all ahead of it.

im not much of a fan of leonardo dicaprio but titanic had a good cast and although it was probably one of the most hyped films of all times, it was pretty well done. the action and suspense was brilliant.

i think everyone got sick of hearing that celine dion track though

    What suspense?

The ship hits an iceberg. We all know that.
