Well, you can earn Cash Shop Currency by playing the game for free so they actually pay YOU for playing their game.

This game is probably one of the best F2P RPG's there is, just so underrated atm.

In theory, that sounds nice and everything. The truth is that they give you, what? 50 TP (more or less) for achieving a certain amount of favor. You need around 500 TP (or more) to unlock new areas.

The problem is that by the time you reach a decent amount of favor, you'll run out of free to play quests. Don't forget the fact that you can only get 6 Favor Points (or was it 10? My memory sucks) from most free to play quest (when completed on Elite). Sadly, once you complete the Elite difficulty from a quest, you can't obtain more favor from it.

In other words, you'd have to create many characters in order to farm enough favor to unlock new content. In my humble opinion, it's easer to become VIP and unlock the content while doing the pay to play quests. That way, you level your character, farm for favor and make the game free (at a very slow pace)

You can make ten characters and get them to a decent level with all the available quests done and still not have all of the TP needed to unlock everything you want/need.

Well, you don't have to keep the characters in order to keep the TP. Still, it'd be awfully slow to unlock even a single additional content through this method.

By the way, thanks for the correction on points

I presume you mean 'Modules'. If thats whats you meant, then yes.
Modules are quests bought off the DDO Store which give you more favor points.
The modules that are once bought can be used on every server in DDO, if I'm right.

Well, if you're planning to stay in DDO for some time, they worth it. It is, after all, the fastest method to level.
I suggest getting a VIP status and unlock the modules with the TP you obtain per month (I believe it was 500 TP per month; sometimes 1000 for some events). You'll slowly make the game free that way
