Free mmo advice please?

Hey all. Well..im kinda gettin tired of my current F2p mmo's. I'm an old WoW player but thanks to a hacker I lost my account and quit. So I've been looking at F2P mmo's to help save just that extra bit of cash.

I enjoyed WoW. In my opinion the ability to customize your talents and the fact that everyone didnt look the same (most F2P only have 8 or 9 different armor sets for your entire class. so everyone in the same level range looks like clones)

Now my problem is this. I want a F2P MMO that is similar to WoW in the aspects that I listed above. If its possible. I heard alot of bad things about Perfect world international but i am DLing it as I type this in another attempt to find a good game. I dont like much in the way of Anime styles and would prefer a 3d environment. I'll accept grinding at higher levels, but not having to grind a few thousand mobs just to get the last 30% exp because there are no quests in the game. Other than that sci-fi and fantasy are nice.

Any advice on good ones would be nice. A few links, or actual game-play footage video links would also help me. Thanks all!!

Interesting. Runes of magic is similiar to Gates of Anadaron that I tried. But ill check it out. Thanks folks. This thread is still open so if anyone else has an opinion, or is willing to vouch for one of the pre-mentioned games, please feel free to.

In my opinion... Runes of Magic is much much better than Gates of Andaron. Be sure to check it out

First of all, SUN has next to NO customization and with saying that the game is wayyyy to easy to lvl up in. It only takes about 5 hours to hit lvl 35... then a week later to complete every other quest.

PW Has awesome character customization. I liked that aspect of the game. I did not, however, like the fact that the environment is HUGE and it takes FOREVER to get to the main city of the game. But then, after that, all you do is teleport. Flying is slow as hell too. I found that at lvl 27 I was doing cultivating quest after cultivating quest. There was no end to it. It was booorrriinngg and repetative. If you like a quest worthy game to play side by side with a friend on the same quest, then this is the game for you.

Runes Of Magic is okay. I hear it's not that hard to lvl to max, and the customization is... fair. There's a lot to do in the game. Lots of crafting, quests, housing etc. But I don't like the stop, go movement of the game. If you're clicking to move and you're walking straight and you click to go left, your character will stop a split second, then move... I dunno why but that bugs me.

The game I currently got back into is Atlantica Online... it's free, benefits of paying too. Quests are easy to follow, people are helpful. Crafting system is off the chart in my opinion. There is a ton of stuff to craft in the game. Money by crafting is easily obtained. Although, people get turned off by the aspect that the game is turn based. Which I would agree that I would hate the game, but it's not that bad. Worth trying imo.

I played Atlantica online about a year or more ago. It was nice I'll admit. I didnt like the style of combat too much tho. It had a FF feel to it which was nice. but I got too confused in groups.

Yeah, group work is horrible in my opinion. You don't get the stuff your group members do, although you know if you did it alone you woulda gotten it for sure. Yeah I dislike the party aspect of the game in certain, non-aggressive group areas such as the one lvl 19 nooby dungeon in yellow river. Group after group after group enters the battle if you're not quick enough to kill all the groups before the next one spawns, that's where groups are good.

An ex wow player would be more firmiliar with games like Runes of Magic,4story, Allods online is another one but still in closed beta.

As an ex-wow player i tried all of those games. I liked Allods more though. but the rest are also great choices. I currently am playing DDO (dungeons and dragons online) its also free but it has linitations to free plaayers(like you gotta buy mission packs to get to max level lol) but they have a system in place were you can get everything for free but you need to invest time into it.

You're joking right, RoM is nothing like 4Story (aka Gates of Andaron).

Allods online was nearly the full experience of WoW(for me), down to the fighting, cutscenes, and art direction, so that is your best bet :P Oh crap though, it is in CB ><

Tried to since February when it got hacked. They told me I was out of luck. They said they couldn't assist me with it and wouldn't tell me why. I checked the armory yesterday to find that someones been using my main character. So it got sold and they didnt bother to change the name. Look up Fermidget. There is only one on the entire wowarmory.com. Only gear thats the same on it from when I stopped playin is the titansteel pieces.
