Don't forget the easy peasy progression WoW has divvied up to keep a huge demographic. In some other games an upgrade for your toon at max level could take months. In WoW? A fresh lvl 80 can be up and running for a high end raid in less than a couple weeks with minimal poop socking.

It's a great idea to lure people in like that. People, including moms and dads who haven't played a game since the original mario bros are rolling around in epic gear and they can't get enough.

who cares they are succeeding so far ... with this "luring" thing ... when on other hand other games are closing down so they know what people wants and that makes em on top ... :/

WoW won't stay the big cheese, soon people will be comparing all mmos to say... Everquest 3 or Darkages of camelot 2 or some shit.

Personally Grind is all about what you feel while playing it, Take helbreath, it's grind from 1-180 with quests sprinkled in, yet i love the game because it's easy to level, i've gone from 1-50 in about an hour maybe one and a half.

it's all about who you are and what you enjoy.

WoW is still in a world of its own, it cannot be compared with anymore.

For others, i believe that there aint exactly games which are bad to the core, it still all depends on how they market it and carry on advertising it... so many games just have the initial hype and promotional effort which fade away soon...

people have been saying wow wont stay best for like 5 years now... sure it will hit a wall some time soon but its probably still got a good 4 years left in it, blizzard is not just going to let it die, if anything there new mmo will be the next best.

Exactly. WoW will be top for a long long time.

Everquest3, FF14, and whatever comes, might be able to survive, but will not compete with WoW.

The only thing that is going to replace WoW is a new game by the makers themselves.

Something utterly HUGE has to come to knock WoW from its throne and that isn't going to happen without Blizzard having a say in it.

Oh, it's this thread again. It's really plain and simple, Blizzard had a fan base with the Wacraft series. After they finished with their strategy game they decided to make a bigger game and the fan base followed. That fan base in-turn got more people to join, etc, etc. You know the drill.

    WoW does one thing right..

Forces players to play together at some point. If the community wasnt so bad that'd be great.

Otherwise it's essentially a really polished point and click game. It takes little to no skill aside from builds and timing, and that in itself is boring and gives me no reason to play.

Oh.. Posibly the best WASD I've played ever, that's a huge bonus in my books but it's not a reason to play imho

It will stay at the top population wise until likely mid way through 2011 or early 2012 when some Graphical beasts with good gameplay come.

    COUGH C9 COUGH.

It's safe to assume you never played the game.

    Two points.

One. He is right, Look at Ultima Online? It was the shit back then, 10 years later, its still there, but...

Two. Blizzard probably foresees this event, and yeah, has another MMO to continue their success.

Every single top player I know of are excited about Cataclysm in hope that it might make Arenas more enjoyable than they are at the moment.

Timing, tactics, reaction ability, knowledge, team coordination, leadership... yeah not a lot of skill basically point and click game hey EpicPhail mind linking me the character you had when you did all those world-first bosskills and got all those rank1 arena title with? I mean, I know those are things that are easy to come by since it's essentially a really polished point and click game with little to no skill, but as a fellow player I'm just slightly interrested if I've seen you around maybe.

Oh wait, you have no idea what you're talking about and you're just spouting baseless nonsense? Oh, sorry don't let me interrupt.
