    Default Crappy armours...

don't you just hate it when a game changes the colour of a level 15 armour and calls it the lv 45 armour? or when one level set looks the same as another? i realised alot of games do this...they're so lazy . what do you guys think? do you guys get annoyed?

its like u train so hard to lv50 hoping for some leet armour and then omg, shit house.

    Laziness/time constraints/budget maybe?

Yes, I don't like it either. Usually what happens is there's a few sets around the same level with marginal upgrades that all use the same skin.

But I do hate how they reuse old models for GOOD items especially, like in FFXI my Ace's Helm (best DD helm in the game) uses the model of a lame scorpion helm (it looks like a robocop helm made out of a crab) and... it should just look more epic. -.- It's so ugly for such an awesome item.
Also the Walahra Turban which everyone uses is stolen from the BRD Sha'ir set...

I've noticed that Aion is VERY limited in skins for certain kinds of items, such as shields. Tons of the high level shields all use the same exact skin and it really sucks because I can't find anything cool looking to use. .-.
Even at level 50. And TONS of the hats look the same. In fact, they're pretty much all the same with slight differences, except for that one type is a hat, chain helm, helm, or headband.

I guess they figured everyone uses hide helm anyway.

What game(s) were you referring to in particular? I can't think of a whole lot but I don't remember.

i can forgive runescape since it's trying to give off a sense of realistic looking armor.
not all armor in the middle ages had silly over sized pauldrons and silly helmets.

WoW doesn't reuse armor models, it's just every piece of their armor looks like it has been collecting dust in a warehouse for 10000 years.....

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but the armors sucked.
You wouldn't always look like that, you would get separate armors, but you would find those leather pieces throughout the entire game.

and now some from grand fantasia

though the set itself doesnt look so bad, it does get repetitive.

The reasons why they do this are several....
first of all as before mentioned is budget and time, as time equals money they try to shift the game out as fast as they can for obvious hourly working costs. Also a lack of imagination... i guess its better than having too ugly armors (is what happens if armors get a little too complex and trying to look "cool") but i guess doing all that is what asians always do.... oh... and every new armor set makes the game setup bigger and also adds to traffic and graphical resource consumption, so they loose players who dont have powerful enough computers (tough a small factor, it still exsists)

so yea....basically making a new armor model from scratch is alot harder and time consuming than giving them a revamp with textures and colors

oh yea....and the more armor sets the more difficult it is to differentiate between classes

i wouldnt play a game like that from the start, let alone spending real money on it just to cover the crappy-looking armour up.

    This is true.

However, the vendor sets are more or less the same for each level tier, and there's a disturbing lack of pants in the game.
